There are hundreds of bushwalks in the Blue Mountains, from short gentle strolls
to multi-day rugged wilderness adventures, and nearly as many lookouts, waterfalls,
and nature experiences to choose from. Here are just a few:
BUSHWALKS
• In Springwood, the Sassafras Gully track is a half-day walk that follows the path
of natural gullies past dramatic rock features. Birdwood Gully is a sensational walk
that covers such a variety of terrain you will be amazed at all you experience.
• The 1.3km Katoomba Falls Reserve Night-lit Walk gives a unique, night-time viewing
experience of outstanding natural features such as Orphan Rock, Witches Leap,
Katoomba Falls and Katoomba Cascades. At certain vantage points you can also
see the Three Sisters lit up.
• The Six Foot Track is a challenging three-day hike. Starting at Katoomba, you will
pass waterfalls and wild rivers into the Megalong Valley, cross a unique swing bridge,
climb the range, and arrive at Jenolan Caves.
• Fairfax Heritage walking track is an easy walk that meanders from the Blue Mountains
Heritage Centre to the dramatic cliffs and lookouts of Govetts Leap.
WATERFALLS
• The South Lawson Waterfall Circuit is a string of four
waterfalls along a dog-friendly walk. North Lawson
Waterfall Loop circuit takes in three waterfalls. The
steep stairs in and out of Dante’s Glen will get your
heart pumping!
• Majestic Wentworth Falls is one of the most stunning
waterfalls in Australia. The sheer scale of the falls,
plummeting hundreds of metres down a sandstone
cliff face, will leave you breathless.
• Leura Cascades is a popular picnic area with a
walk beside the rapids on Leura Falls Creek, down
to Bridal Veil Falls and Leura Falls.
NUT PICKING
Pick your own walnuts or chestnuts at farms located
in the beautiful Mt. Irvine or Mt. Wilson regions of the
Blue Mountains. These experiences are only available
seasonally.
