THIS AFTERNOON WE WELCOME THE SUPPORTERS,
OFFICIALS AND PLAYING STAFF OF ACCRINGTON STANLEY
TO THE ABBEY STADIUM.
In the late 1960’s I was
given a book which
showed a turnstile that
had been left derelict. It
was from Accrington’s
original ground. The
photograph has always
remained in my mind and
is a constant reminder to
me of how important it
is that everyone works
together to ensure their
clubs not only survive,
but also flourish.
The work and dedication
of those involved ensured
Accrington were able to reform
and then rise back through the
leagues. It can only be admired.
Accrington are proof of what
can be achieved when everyone
works together as one.
In addition to Accrington
supporters, we also welcome
Pippa Luo Sawyer. She is 6 years
old and today will be her first visit
to the Abbey Stadium. Families
and children are a really important
part of Matchday experience at
the Abbey Stadium. They are the
future of the club. All supporters
need to ensure that when visiting
the ground, the atmosphere
remains positive and at the end
of the day, those families and
individuals coming for the first time
will leave wanting to come back
again. We need them to tell their
friends and family that Cambridge
United is a football club that they
can be proud to visit and one that
welcomes everyone to it.
Following on from that, Cambridge
United has a zero tolerance of
discrimination. Recently, there have
been several incidents reported
and it really important we eliminate
them together. It is everyone’s
responsibility to do whatever they
can to achieve that. If you witness
an incident, please report it to a
steward or by calling/texting our
Matchday Hotline on 075224

our supporters. They are often the
first people that supporters meet
