lustre pottery bowl, Persia,<br />

13th century, the interior with<br />

central lattice medallion within<br />

a band of palmettes and an<br />

inscription, the exterior with<br />

a repeating design of circles<br />

and dots, unglazed foot.<br />

Provenance- the Sir Eldred<br />

Hitchcock K.C.M.G. (1887-1959)<br />

collection, thence by direct<br />

family descent. His collection<br />

was published in 1956 in Islamic<br />

Pottery: From the ninth to the<br />

fourteenth centuries A.D. in<br />

the collection of Sir Eldred<br />
