The title of this series in Japanese is a pun:

phonetically, Genji goshu yojo is very similar to Genji

gojuyon (the phrase which refers to the 54 chapters

in the story The Tale of Genji). The title in English has

also been translated to “Lingering Sentiments of a

Late Collection of Genji.” The publisher of some of the

prints, Totoya Eikichi, can also be read as Uoya Eikichi.
