CVD Diamond

The CVD diamond performance is very close to that of natural

diamond, so our customers can now take advantage

of thermal conductivity that is five times that of copper in

contrast to metals, where heat is conducted by electrons,

lattice vibrations are responsible for the high thermal conductivity

of diamond. Nowadays CVD diamond made by the

laboratory is used as mounts for high-power integrated circuits

and laser diodes. CVD diamond also has high transparency

for optical wavelengths that range from 225 nanometers

to beyond 100 microns. The broadband optical transparency,

high thermal conductivity and hardness make diamond an

ideal choice for highly demanding window applications such

as high-power IR laser windows, high-power microwave windows

and durable windows for aggressive environments.

The CVD diamond has the following benefits:

· Exceptional broadband infrared transparency

· Transparency in the optical and ultraviolet spectrum

· Excellent thermal conductivity

· Low scatter in infrared

· High fracture strength

· Low thermal expansion coefficient

Please see the viewports section for UHV flange mounted

options. Please contact TSL to request quotations for your specific

applications.
