Welcome to 5 th grade! As your student enters a new grade there
are many things thrown at you and I am here to throw one more,
5th grade choir. With this letter I hope to answer some of the
frequently asked questions.

When is the choir concert?
❅ December 10 th 2008 at 7:00pm is the Winter concert date
✹ May 13 th 2009 at 7:00pm is the Spring concert date
Please mark these dates on your calendar!!!!
If students attend both the Winter and Spring concert they
will be rewarded with a movie at the end of the year.
Attendance is very important, in order to have a successful
concert. If you have any conflicts please talk to me and
arrangements can be made.
When do the students have choir practice?
Choir is a required portion of the 5 th grade music
curriculum. Students meet once a week in the auditorium to
experience group singing, dancing and music making.
Do students get graded for choir?
Grading for choir is incorporated into the general music
grade and is dependent upon participation and effort.

Are there any rehearsals after school?
There are no required rehearsals after school for regular
choir members. Depending on the concert, I may ask some
students to help me decorate or participate in special
dances or skits. In this case there may be rehearsals
after school. Also in the spring I teach an extracurricular
choir that may meet after school. Information on that
choir will come home later in the year
What time do we come to the concert?
*Students participating in the extracurricular school choir should report at 6:00
*Students participating in Hand bells should report at 6:30
*All other 5th graders should report to the Cafeteria at 6:45 p.m.
What do students wear for the concert?
All students will wear:
• Shirt – White shirt with sleeves (spaghetti straps and sleeveless shirts are not
acceptable), shirts should be plain with no designs or advertisements.
• Pants- Blue Jeans, they should be BLUE in color and not contain holes or large
designs.
• Shoes- Shoes should be presentable, flat soled and should stay on the foot (no flip
flops or shoes that don’t strap on your feet)
Please contact me if there is a problem with the concert attire, adjustments can be made.
On the day of the concert students have daytime performance for the school. Please have
your child wear their concert outfits to school on the day of the concert.
What is extracurricular choir?
Extracurricular choir is a group that I put together in the spring. It consists of students who
just can’t get enough choir and would like an opportunity to learn more and sing more.
Extracurricular choir is not mandatory, only students who choose to participate come once a
week. More information about this group will be sent home in the spring.
This information and other important items will be placed on the
music website. This website can be found on the Alburtis web
page under Mrs. Tiede. If you should have any questions or
