FROM THE PRESIDENTGRAHAM KEYSWelcome to April:3Dear Members,Our first outing for 2022:The AOMC British and European Motoring Show at Yarra Glen Racecourse provided a great start to 2022 with a good selection ofWolseley Models dating way back to the early 30’s represented by a Hornet Special, and up to the mid 70’s featuring a FWD Wolseley Sixwith at least another 20 other Wolseley’s in between, including 2 beautifully restored 4/44’s, there to celebrate their 70 th anniversary. Infact by midday we had run out of room in our allocated space and had to park a couple of cars behind our front row. This was a veryprofitable day for the AOMC who represent most of the Victorian car clubs at both State and Federal level as well as supporting the hobbycar movement in general throughout Victoria. Their most recent Delegates Meeting was attended by David Morris and me, and we learnedthat over 960 display cars and about 60 motor bikes were present on the day. The weather was superb, with just enough wind to keep ourWolseley Car Club flags flying. Congratulations to Garey Laken for a class trophy win in his superb Wolseley open tourer, and a big thanksto all members who assisted on the day, with a special mention to Richard Graham who provided and set-up the much needed shadeawning. Proceeds from the day go directly to maintaining the huge variety of work that the AOMC carry out on our behalf.Coming OutingsAnother great day on this year’s calendar is the Kalorama Rally on March 20th. This well run event is always well attended by the Vintageand Veteran clubs that we rarely get a chance to catch-up with. They provide us with a slightly different slant in motoring with their largerange of beautifully restored vehicles of all makes, many of which we do not get so see very often nowadays, as negotiating modern trafficin vehicles with skinny tyres and poor (by today’s standards) brakes is definitely no picnic when careless and impatient drivers in moderncars are encountered. The 24 th of April will see us travelling to Castlemaine, and the director for this event, Anthony van Emmerik hasassured us that it will be an enjoyable day. We always welcome picturesof your cars, and special thanks to Peter and Lesley Frost for sending us a photoof their lovely, and now quite rare, 15/60.Wolshed News:The latest car to leave the Wolshed started its migration to Echuca on a trailer behind Brett and Kylie Hopson’s 4WD following last month’sworking bee. The blue 24/80 MK I will join their 6/80 as the family’s second Wolseley restoration project. Accompanied by their five (5)daughters and a boyfriend, the crew camped overnight and joined us at Yarra Glen for the abovementioned British and European MotoringShow on the following Sunday. It’s very encouraging to see some younger people in our club again.March General Meeting on ZOOM:Trials for broadcasting the General Meetings arenow gaining momentum thanks to our TechTeam, namely Richard Graham and AndrewWhalen. This month’s trial saw muchimprovement in both the audio and picture qualityas judged by the six members who participated.As we improve our production, we are hoping toattract many more members, particularly thoseliving in outer country areas as well as thoseliving interstate and overseas. Thank you to allwho took the trouble to log-in and join us. We arehoping to attract many more ZOOM members inthe coming months.Cheers…Graham3
