Painted on 16th June 2021, this is the view from our road looking across the city of
Sheffield. It was something of a race to paint quickly enough to follow the change of
light. The whole city changed colour in an instant. The intensity of the purples and reds;
clouds and red bricks of the houses on the right. The buildings are drawn with my own
familiar lines for man made structures.
The paper is French watercolour paper that has a pattern on the surface, this adds a
layered look by interfering with the painted gestures. I constantly paint outside,
everyday is different.
Sadly now the day dawns with a darker light.
