Eighth Annual International Conference on Game Theory, SUNY- Stony Brook, Stony Brook, New York, July, 1998. Presented "A generalization of the potential function of the Shapley value for games in partition function form" Abstract: The potential function of the Shapley value for games in characteristic function form was defined by Hart and Mas-Colell (1988) and can be used as a method for computing the Shapley value for those games. Since games in partition function form were first introduced by Thrall and Lucas (1963), several generalizations of the Shapley value have been introduced various authors. One such generalization is an average value introduced by Potter(1997). This unique Shapley-type value admits a generalization of the Hart/Mas-Colell potential function. The purpose of this paper is to define this potential function.
