State of the snowpack
Data shows that on May 15, 2022, the snow pack throughout
British Columbia was well above normal, ranging from 96 to
152% of normal. The West Kootenay (128%) and East Kootenay
(124%) are above normal. Stations in the northern sections of the
Kootenays are well above normal and may reach record values
for June 1st. In an average year, approximately 18% of the annual
BC snow pack has melted by May 15th (according to data from
automated snow weather stations). Due to the persistent cool
temperatures delaying snowmelt and storm events contributing
additional snow at higher elevations, it is estimated that only 2.6%
of the total snow has melted so far this year
Snow pack is only one factor related to freshet flood risk.
Weather conditions from May through July will determine the
timing, magnitude, and rate of snowmelt, where heavy rainfall
events can exacerbate snowmelt driven flows.
Jinx
RDCK
sponsored by
Jinx came into shelter after being trapped and bonking her head.
Being in a trap was stressful and spooky for Jinx, so upon arriving
into foster care, she was slightly nervous of her new environment.
However, with some tasty snacks and lots of bum scratches, Jinx
instantly warmed up and showed her foster mom how sweet she
can be by rubbing against her leg, having friendly conversations,
and asking for plenty of tummy rubs! Jinx has also been enjoying the
small dog in foster. She can often be found cuddling and sleeping
with the dog.
Jinx is looking for a calm home to spend lots of time cuddling her
human friends, and remaining an indoor-only kitty to avoid any
scary cat traps! With slow and proper introductions, Jinx would enjoy
sharing her space with another calm and respectful furry friend!
PENNYWISE – SAVING YOU
TIME, SAVING THEM MONEY.
Have you ever thought to yourself
“that couch sounds good...but
I wish I knew what it looked like!”
Pennywise understands, when you
see an N at the front of a classified,
that means there is a picture
of the item to be viewed online!
One quick turn…
and it’s all over
for this dog!
Dogs are easily jolted out of
open pick-ups and often suffer
crippling injuries or death.
Use a protective kennel
secured to the truck bed, or
better yet, let your best friend
ride safely in the cab.
