Alicante Branch and the local Community celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee 2nd of June 2022. As I look ahead with a sense of hope and optimism to the year of my Platinum Jubilee, I am reminded of how much we can be thankful for. These last seven decades have seen extraordinary progress socially, technologically and culturally that have benefitted us all; and I am confident that the future will offer similar opportunities to us and especially to the younger generations in the United Kingdom and throughout the Commonwealth. Queen Elizabeth II, 2022 The Queen has ruled for longer than any other Monarch in British history, becoming a much loved and respected figure across the globe. Her extraordinary reign has seen her travel more widely than any other monarch, undertaking many historic overseas visits. Known for her sense of duty and her devotion to a life of service, she has been an important figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during times of enormous social change. The year 2022 sees Her Majesty The Queen become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years on the throne. The Alicante Branch of the Royal British Legion held a celebratory afternoon tea for Branch Members and Members of the local Community on the occasion of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee 12
Branch Chairman John Pratt gave a short speech before giving the Royal Toast Over 60 Branch and Community members gathered together to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Anniversary in style. The afternoon raised the sum of 215 Euros for the 2022 Poppy Appeal 13
