A native grass found growing along sunny roadsides<br />
and in low-lying areas. Thrives in damp<br />
soil. Vibrant green foliage turns copper-orange<br />
in fall, and bushy seed heads are showy and<br />
appealing. A great-looking native for marshy<br />
or low areas where a low-maintenance plant is<br />
required. Reseeds freely.<br />

BLACK MOUNTAIN BLUESTEM<br />
‘Black Mountain’ is a seed-grown cultivar <strong>of</strong> our<br />
native Splitbeard Bluestem with a more consistent,<br />
compact habit. Blue green foliage develops<br />
pink and red hues in late summer, and flowering<br />
spikelets in fall are covered in silvery, white tufts.<br />
‘Black Mountain’ thrives in sunny, dry locations<br />
and tolerates infertile, sandy, and clay soils. An<br />
ecological powerhouse for a range <strong>of</strong> applications.<br />

SIDE OATS GRAMA<br />
A resilient native grass with ornamental charm.<br />
Grows in a loose, slightly upright shape with appealing<br />
red- and purple-tinged spikelets on tall<br />
culms. Drought tolerant; it grows in varied soils<br />
from sand to clay. Use on slopes, green ro<strong>of</strong>s,<br />
in mixed plantings as a matrix layer, or as a tall<br />
ground cover. Most common in central grasslands<br />
<strong>of</strong> North America.<br />

STRIPED TUBER OAT GRASS<br />
Slow-spreading ground cover tolerant <strong>of</strong> drought<br />
and varied soils. Narrow, white- and dark-green<br />
variegated leaves can appear completely white;<br />
spiky leaves are s<strong>of</strong>t and pliable. Produces attractive<br />
flowers in cool climates but does not<br />
flower or perform well in areas with hot summer<br />
nights. Cut back in summer for fresh growth.<br />
Must ship by May 31.<br />

beautiful in large masses. Adapts to poor soil;<br />
drought tolerant.<br />

BUFFALO GRASS<br />
This shortgrass prairie native is a stellar alternative<br />
to the traditional lawn. It boasts fine-textured,<br />
gray green to blue green foliage and spreads<br />
quickly by rhizomes to form a dense carpet. Can<br />
take light foot traffic and periodic mowing (2-3"<br />
min.). It has low fertility and water requirements<br />
and tolerates heat, drought, and alkaline soils.<br />
Intolerant <strong>of</strong> heavy moisture and sandy soils.<br />
Warm season, grey green to blue green, 4-6”, 6-8”<br />
with blooms, sun, dry-average, flowers late spring,<br />
Zones 4-8, Origin: central plains <strong>of</strong> Canada & U.S.,<br />
