It was another stand out year for our
award-winning HITZ programme as
young people across the country were
helped by a community programme
that enriches and changes lives
throughout the year
The red carpet once again was
rolled out for the HITZ Awards
2021, with all our inspirational
finalists being celebrated at
The Twickenham Stoop at what
was an emotional event
The journeys and achievements
of nine young shortlisted stars
and three role models where
recognised at the Awards hosted
by former England and London
Irish Winger Topsy Ojo. Together
with our partners SCL Education
Group, CVC Foundation and
Wooden Spoon, we celebrated
their inspirational progress and
outstanding work on the HITZ
programme.
Minister for Employment, Mims
Davies, praised their success:

will inspire others to overcome
life’s obstacles with great
confidence which can often only
be gained through sport and
work.
“HITZ is doing a wonderful job
promoting this vital connection
within communities right across

who need it, and for having
the determination to make a
difference.”
HITZ is our education and
employability programme,
supporting young people to
make positive life choices and
to progress back into education,
employment, apprenticeships
or training. HITZ works with
more than 2,000 14-23-yearolds
across England every year
and is delivered nationally
by Premiership Rugby’s 13
shareholder clubs. Since its
inception in 2008, HITZ has
supported nearly 20,000
young people towards a
brighter future.
HITZ uses rugby’s core values of
teamwork, respect, enjoyment,
discipline and sportsmanship
to help young people develop
essential personal, employability
and life skills. A strong focus
on understanding young
people whilst nurturing
and encouraging learning,
underpinned with physical
activity, is what makes the
programme so unique. It is
this approach that consistently
delivers results year after year.
