SCHOOL HISTORY
With the rapid growth of its student population, SISB identified the need to
expand its campus facilities. On 7 June 2002, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha
Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the Grand Opening of SISB Prach Uthit campus,
a new campus features well-equipped classrooms, a library, science and computer
laboratories, a multi-purpose hall, basketball court, swimming pool, playground
and offers full-fledged curricula for students from age 2 to 18.
In June 2013, the SISB Suvarnabhumi campus was launched as part of the SISB
family of campuses serving the student community in the south-eastern Bangkok
metropolitan area. Today, Principal Ms Jasmine Choong Wen Yih, is leading the
school in creating a vibrant learning community, one who empowers students to
achieve academic excellence with an emphasis on holistic development.
SISB Survanabhumi campus is a member of ISAT (International School Association
of Thailand). In 2010, SISB was Fully accredited by the Office for National
Education Standards and Quality Assessment(ONESQA) under the Private
Education Act of Thailand. In 10 June 2021, SISB Suvarnabhumi campus was
awarded the CIS accredidation for Membership status.
Together with the competent and passionate team of teachers and staff, the
school is focused on working collaboratively with parents and the community to
help students realise their potential and be nurtured to become future leaders.
Founded in 2001, SISB currently has 4 campuses in Thailand which adopt the Singapore and
UK curricula as the foundation for teaching and learning.
The SISB name is inspired by our first campus, the Singapore International School of
Bangkok (2001), the first Singapore International School that was established in Thailand
which pioneered the Singapore education curriculum.
SISB provides a standardised curriculum underscored by the twin principals of the
Singapore education system and consistently delivers high quality education that many
have come to trust of SISB. Through a board based and unique tri-lingual curriculum, SISB
offers a safe and nurturing learning environment and provides opportunities and
challenges to foster students as lifelong learners and future leaders.
SISB upholds the reputation of the globally renowned, excellent education system of
Singapore and holds the duty to contribute positively to the development of education in
Thailand.
MESSAGE FROM
Head Of School
The COVID-19 pandemic has taught all of us that we cannot take
things for granted. The pandemic has also heightened the need for
all of us to have the growth mindset, to be critical thinkers and risk
takers to seek new knowledge and continual improvement.
At SISB Suvarnabhumi campus, we believe in nurturing the whole
child by providing rigorous curriculum, a comprehensive co-curricular
activities, enrichment programmers and competitions to
challenge the students, broaden their horizons and maximize
their potentials so that our students can “Shine like Stars in the
Universe”.
Students should continuously strive to achieve the 10 SISB Student
Outcomes. Our students need to be resilient, knowledgeable,
reflective and global in their outlook. There are many milestones
for them to achieve. Getting good grades and graduation
are only small milestones in the life journey of a child. Success is
only a milestone and not a destination, as after every success, we
need to move on for the next challenge in life.
This will be my last year of service at SISB Suvarnabhumi campus.
I feel fortunate and blessed to have the opportunity to be your
Principal and Head of school to work with all of you for the past 4
years. I shall miss all the greetings that I receive from all my lovely
children each day, hearing their cheeky conversations or seeing
their happy faces.
To all the teachers whom I have worked with, all the best to you;
you have been magnificent during the Covid-19 pandemic in response
to the crisis. I am sure that any parent who sat next to their
child during home-based learning developed a greater appreciation
not only for what teachers do, but for what they can’t do
when schools are not fully open.
I would like to thank all the parents who have supported me and
the school for the past 4 years. It has been such an honour to
know all of you and to work with some of you to organise school
events. We are able to keep the number of Covid-19 cases low in
school because of your co-operation and strong sense of social
responsibility to keep the SISB Suvarnabhumi community safe.
I wish everyone good health and happiness and wish you “The Best Is Yet to Be”!
MS Jasmine Choong Wen Yih
Head Of School & Primary Principal
Singapore International School of Bangkok - Suvarnabhumi Campus
Home based learning is difficult for the students, especially the younger ones
who are more used to a structured learning environment. Research shows that
full benefit of the home based learning experience hinges on four factors in
the home: space, the availability of devices, Wi-Fi speeds and parental skills. It
takes a tremendous amount of trust and understanding for home based learning
and online examination to run smoothly. I am pleased to note that many
of our students exemplified many of the student outcomes such as punctuality,
presence, task completion and quality test results.
The pandemic has affected us in many ways and will, no doubt, continue to
impact our lives for the foreseeable future. I wish to extend my thanks to the
incredible staff of SISB SV, for their hard work and willingness to do whatever
is asked of them during this time. Their positivity, support and determination
makes my job as principal not only easier but a pleasure as well – I am proud
to lead such an amazing team! Well done and thank you to all of our pupils –
throughout the year and into lockdown who have continued to do their best.
But most of all I would like to convey a BIG thank you to all parents who give
us feedback and support for the home base learning. You are truly our partners
in education .
What a year it has been! When our K1
Love family first came together, we
were still learning online and facing
all the problems that came with that.
From the very first day, I was so proud
of you all for how resilient you were,
and how well you adapted to the
situation. When we finally returned
to school in term 2, it was great to be
together at last, and to get to know
each other even more. On that first
day, there was a lot of excitement, but
we were all also a bit nervous and shy.
now we are at the end of our K1 journey
together, I am amazed by the
confident and outgoing individuals
you have all become. I wish you all the
very best in K2, and I will miss each
and every one of you!
times for everybody, but you have met
these challenges with respect and
We have finally come to the end of this academic
year. It was a very difficult one for all of us both the
students and teachers. But our combined efforts,
understanding, resilience, and devotion to academic
success saw us through. This year we saw a great
improvement in learning habits, students were more
responsible, and independent and showed respect to
everyone. This demonstration of school values
impacted positively on the general student outcomes
and makes them global citizens, scholars, and
leaders. The students have proven their sense of
maturity as they grow to pass the P3 class. I wish
everyone a wonderful holiday. Remember, better is
It has been a pleasure to bear witness to the
wonderful growth of these thirteen enthusiastic,
fun-loving and smart students!. Everyday spent
together was a roller-coaster ride. The class has
accomplished a lot during their Primary 3 Year. As
the school year progressed, the class has shown
remarkable academic and non academic performance
and achievements. They have strived well to
be excellent in their studies, and have proven again
and again that nothing is impossible when there is
dedication.
It has been 3-4 years since I joined SISB SV. My life has changed
a lot when I came to SISB SV. I came from a Thai school and I
didn’t understand a single thing there, but when I came to this
school, I understood almost every single thing that you guys
taught me and my grades also improved. It will be very sad to see
me and my friends leave sisb and continue to a new school (some
of us will go to Prachautid.) It was a great experience learning at
sisb and I am so thankful for the teachers that taught me since
I joined. I’ve met a lot of friends in this school and it is also very
sad to say goodbye to them. The place I like the most in my school
is the library since it has a lot of books including comics, story
books, fiction books and non-fiction. During my residential trip to
Horseshoe Point at Pattaya,I was so happy because I got to meet
new friends and played paintball for the first time in my life. I will
never forget about the things I learned during my time in SISB
SV. I will miss the people here including the teachers and staff
members, because I will be moving to a new school.
My life at SISB SV will always be treasured. I know it will be very hard for me to
leave the school since I have studied here since I was very young. I have been learning
in SISB for almost more than ten years. It will be especially hard to leave my
friends who I have known all my life. The time I have spent in SISB SV will truly
impact my life as I will miss my friends a lot.
SISB SV has changed my life since it has literally raised me up with teachers who
worked very hard and cared a lot about us. In fact, during our residential trips they
would even come to us at midnight if we were afraid or had nightmares. I had such
caring teachers. My friends and I always had a pillow fight in the middle of the night
on residential trips. It was normal for kids my age to have differences and conflicts
with fellow peers but when everything was solved we became very good friends
again. I will especially miss my teachers who have taught us valuable lessons not
only academically but also values that we would need moving forward in life. Dear
Teachers, you have gone above and beyond this year to support me. Thank you for
getting me over the hurdles, having faith in my abilities, and having the skills to get
me where I needed to go. I want to also thank all the janitors in school who actually
are good friends of mine. They work so hard to keep the school clean. I am going to
miss everyone because I am going to a new school away from my friends.
I have been in SISB SV school for almost 7 years and had a really
long and challenging journey. In the past few years, I learned a lot,
and during that time and even until now my teachers keep telling me
and my friends that education is not just about gaining knowledge,
it is about social skills and learning how to be respectful, responsible,
and resilient. The friends and teachers I have met along my academic
path and the precious time I and my friends have spent together
will always have a place in my heart forever. Sometimes, the
whole class felt sad about something and sometimes we felt happy.
Every time I felt bad or nervous, my teachers would always be beside
me, supporting and encouraging me. Even if sometimes I was shy
and had no confidence, my teachers would just tell me that I could
do it. Now, it’s time to move on to a new place and environment.
Thank you for always staying by my side, and thank you for joining
my adventure through this long journey. You all will always stay in
my heart and I will never forget what you all have done for me.
I have been in SISB SV for 9 years and I had a really long journey.
Each day of those years I learnt many different things and also
did many different projects. Within those years, I made new best
friends, some of whom from my childhood. Every single day we
stayed together and helped each other.Life in SISB SV primary
school has taught me so many things. Teachers have always been
good people to consult with, they not only taught us about education
but also the moral principles of life. I would like to thank
Miss Ninu, T.Peyman and the other teachers who have encouraged
and supported me through the years. Soon, I will say goodbye
to my friends and my teachers as I leave SISB SV and go to
another school. I will miss them but I will carry with me the wonderful
memories and all the lessons I have learned. I would like to
wish all my friends and teachers the best of luck. I hear the train
My time in SISB SV will always be a part of my life, from the day I leave
SISB SV to the day I am old. I can’t imagine myself leaving this wonderful
school. The friends and teachers I have met along my academic path will
always have a place in my heart forever. I know that even though I will be
halfway across the world, I can always stay in contact with everyone I know.
My time at SV has taught me many values, like being open-minded. I was
shy at first, didn’t talk a lot, but eventually, I had friends and I wasn’t shy
any more. Throughout the years from when I entered the school until now,
I’ve had tough times, getting mad at my friends, getting scolded by teachers
for not doing homework. But hey! I learnt that it is necessary. Of course! I’ve
also had many fun times where teachers would laugh and joke with me and
my classmates. I’ve learnt to become resilient, to respect others, to be balanced
and to be reflective too. RESIDENTIAL TRIPS! I have always had a lot
of fun during these, even some of the trips were very fun and we learnt other
stuff like how to use a GPS. Though... the pandemic really ruined it and we
could not go on any more trips but I will always remember the memories we
made from the trips and will always remember this school, my last year as a
primary student, before moving on to secondary. I will always remember this
school, SISB SV.
It has been 9 years since I joined SISB SV now. Time really flies! I can’t imagine myself
leaving our beloved school. Thank you to all my teachers who believed in me and helped me
get to this point in my life, and thank you to all my friends who have supported me all the
way. Thank you for encouraging me and helping me when I was in a tough situation. Every
day of these nine years has been filled with happiness and joy. No doubt, there were times
when it was very tiring and hard to cope with. I would like them to know that I would not be
who I am today without their support. Before I came to this school, I was a lonely child in
my class with no friends to communicate with, but now SISB SV not only gave me knowledge
but also the gift of friendship. SISB also taught me how to become resilient, respectful,
inquirer, knowledgeable, thinker, communicator, principled, open-minded, caring, risk taker,
balanced and reflective. Presentations and projects that we had to deliver in the course of
studies taught me to elevate my confidence. My favorite part was probably the field trips
and residential trips not because they were fun but because they taught me how to be independent.
The subject I had trouble with the most was Science. For me, I didn’t really like
Science but the teachers still found a way to make it fun for me to learn. I have made so
many memories in SISB SV and it will stay with me forever, I will never trade it for anything.
And all I want to say is thank you to all the teachers, staff and my classmates or friends. I
will never forget you. I know much more remains in my journey, but my time in SISB SV will
definitely be something I will remember for a long time to come. Thanks to everyone, I am
now ready for the next chapter of my life. Time passes so fast, it is already almost my graduation.
I will definitely miss my time and experience in SISB SV.
Art holds a very important place within our primary curriculum; it helps to balance
the weight of academic vs creative subjects, and supports the development
of the whole child. It fosters experimentation more than many other subjects
do. It gives our students the freedom and choice to create something that is
unique to them. Art helps students to communicate visually about both how
they see and experience the world, and how they feel about it.
ICT
This has been an exciting year in ICT. More than ever before at SISB, ICT has been
used and integrated throughout all areas of the curriculum and engaged our
students in ways native to their generational culture. Some of the improvements
in ICT were in the realm of computer aided design with the purchase of a 3D laser
printer. In grades 3 through 6, students learned the art of design and saw a physical
model of their design with a printed version that they could take home. The
culmination of the design unit was a 3D design competition where all four SISB
campuses participated. There were also great improvements in our robotics unit
with our new Dash robot add-ons that allowed students to program a musical instrument,
launch balls from the robot, and snatch items to carry to different destinations.
Of course all the other traditional areas were covered such as important
Google applications to help further each students’ ability to learn at school and
to learn independently so that each student can pursue areas of personal interest
in the most efficient way. We are looking forward to pushing our ICT knowhow
even further next year and to become the best students that we can be.
House Orphanage on the Thai-Miramar border. Also donated was 27,100 baht and the
school donated 3 computers. We wish more staff could have made the journey to deliver
the donations but due to Covid-19 safety protocols only a limited staff made the
journey on Friday 10 December 2021. The success of this year’s drive once again shows
that when we share, we care, and that together we can make a difference.
Bilay House Orphanage, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Project (Training Trip)
On 29 April 2022, 3 SISB staff members traveled to the Bilay House Orphanage in Amphoe Suan Phueng, Ratchaburi. We took
this trip to follow up with our ongoing CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Project. In December 2021, as responsible and
caring members of the SISB community, we made our annual ‘We Care We Share” donation to the orphanage. We donated
some of the old desktop computers that were used in the school before upgrading to our current laptops. We set up an internet
connection at the Bilay House and have now established regular communications with the orphanage and our teacher
volunteers will provide tutoring to these less privileged children with weekly lessons in English, Thai, and Chinese.
