The East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) is an organisation of 156 

member schools in East Asia with a combined total of more than 100,000 pre-K to 

Grade 12 students. SISB was granted full membership in October 2016. 

SINGAPORE EXAMINATIONS AND ASSESSMENT BOARD 

SISB is the first international school in Thailand formally appointed by the Singapore 

Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) in 2006 as the official examination 

centre for the Singapore International Primary School Examination (IPSLE). 

CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATIONS 

SISB is an approved centre certified by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) 

to conduct the IGCSE, AS and A Levels examinations. 

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE 

In October 2019, SISB Pracha Uthit was officially authorised as an International 

Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma Programme. 

CHINESE PROFICIENCY TEST 

Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), an international standardized test of Chinese 

language proficiency,assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the 

Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. 

THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S INTERNATIONAL AWARD 

SISB holds the Basic Independent Award Centre Licence to conduct The Duke of 

Edinburgh’s International Award Scheme, the world’s leading youth achievement 

award programme.

Founded in 1988, the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA)

HEAD OF SCHOOL 

MESSAGE 

As the pandemic raged, our AY 2021/2022 started from 30 August 2021 instead. This was decided after the CEO 

and the School Leaders carefully considered that this would help keep our staff and students safe. We began the 

year with the CEO and HOS address to the staff through Google Meet and all staff were warmly welcomed. 

The HOS then shared with details, the action plans that will help support our new theme for the year: “Shine Like 

Stars in the Universe”. Despite the uncertainties we face because of the COVID situation, staff were encouraged 

to give their best to their charges, our precious students. School leaders continue to lead their staff members and 

students, working together to maintain the high standards we have set for our students and our faculties. We 

continued to ensure students’ needs are met through our On-line or Home Based Learning and our Hybrid system 

of teaching including live-streams of lessons to our students. No students were short-changed and graduating 

students were adequately prepared for their internal and international examinations. 

Leaders and staff were reminded to nurture our students holistically, sustaining the high quality learning and 

teaching and to prepare our students to become better global citizens. Our Pastoral Care and Career Guidance 

Programme, PCCG, was extended to our Primary and NK sections. In essence, we carried out all school operations 

to ensure our mission and vision are well supported. 

It was heartening to witness how our school swung into action at the beginning of the year with the induction 

programme for new and existing staff; progressing into operationalising all our systems and procedures, applying 

the strategic thrusts established by our respective sections. Our NK, Primary and Sixth Form sections progressed 

with their efforts to offer the best education, activities and programmes to their students. 

Working concertedly, we prepared ourselves for the Council of International Schools (CIS) re-accreditation successfully; 

our students acing international examinations such as the iPSLE, the Cambridge IGCSE, AS, A Levels as 

well as our first batch of IBDP students for their diploma assessments. Special focus was given to working with 

external vendors, Ignite and Crimson, to guide our students in their university applications both locally and internationally. 

A number of web conferences on this matter as well as the curricula offered by SISB schools further 

contributed to keeping our staff, students and parents informed. The outcomes were spectacular as our Sixth 

Form students were offered places in top universities around the world, such as Cambridge, Beijing, TsingHua, 

Hong Kong, Manchester, Toronto, Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore universities and also London’s King’s and Imperial 

Colleges, just to name a few. A record number of our students were offered places for Medicine and Dentistry 

amongst other coveted courses in all the top universities in Thailand. As such, we truly have fulfilled our theme for 

the year. In this light, staff members also celebrated after a lull of two years, our staff party with the same theme 

of “Shine Like Stars in the Universe – Masquerade”. It was a well organised and enjoyable party for all. 

In conclusion, we look forward with optimism to face the challenges of yet another new academic year with the 

theme “Run the Race with Perseverance”, guided by the “Spirit of Excellence” which is our school motto.

Last academic year, my message was a quote by Malcolm 

X. Today, I am reminded of another quote by the 

same leader, “Education is the passport to the future, 

for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

In the past 2 years, all of us have seen changes that 

we never expected or experienced. The whole world 

was unprepared for the changes that the pandemic has 

brought about in the lives of people, in businesses, in 

education and all other aspects of our lives. In some 

way or the other, we are still adjusting to these changes. 

Looking back at the quote, I am reminded about how 

true it is that education is the passport to the future; it 

is the only constant in this unpredictable world and it 

is truly the biggest gift we can give our children today. 

Regardless of how high or low the waves of change are, 

with a strong foundation in education and necessary 

lifeskills, our children will be able to overcome the obstacles 

that come their way. It is this constant that we 

strive to give our children every single day at school 

whether learning has been in-person or online. 

This effort is not without its challenges. We can see 

that our emphasis on making our students knowledgeable, 

responsible, independent, respectful and resilient 

is now being tested. Each day, we are faced with challenges 

of Home based learning and how to best teach 

the students online trying to instill an open-mindedness 

in our students to this new medium of learning. 

They’ve pleasantly surprised us all. Their independence 

in using technology, their respect for the teacher’s time 

and for learning, their responsibility to show up on 

time and be present and complete their assignments 

and their resilience to be in front of the screen and 

try to focus has been evident. Students of SISB have 

shone through and have come out on the other side 

of this set-back more skilled, more resilient and more 

equipped to face the next steps in their learning journey 

than ever before. 

Schools have a duty to provide education to students 

to teach them to walk into the future equipped with 

the most powerful tool in the world, knowledge. With 

this tool, every child will be able to embrace and adapt 

to change and surge forward with strength in light of 

all challenges. 

As a Principal, Executive Principal of the Nursery Kindergarten 

and Head of School, I dream to see my students 

become successful in their lives, as individuals 

who will continuously seek knowledge independently 

to excel, live their lives respecting others and themselves, 

being responsible contributing adults and develop 

resilience to challenges, building character and 

strength. 

Life is not predictable, nor does it come with guarantees. 

Circumstances may force us time and time again 

to rethink our ways of life, our values, our contribution 

to our world and others as it has with the COVID 19 

pandemic that has rocked the world. We had to take a 

360 degree view of ourselves and make the necessary 

changes in order to continue as people of the world. 

We now not only know, but have proof that only together, 

we can make this world a better place and that 

is what we will teach our children everyday. 

The education journey of our students is dependent 

on the successful collaboration between home and 

school. Without the partnership of our parents and our 

community, we cannot strive for excellence for our students. 

By entrusting SISB to nurture scholars, leaders 

and global citizens we work together to create a better 

world for our children.

This year has been challenging for all of us. Our abilities and efforts as educators, parents and students have been 

put to test like never before. 

Parents’ patience, dedication, and care for the child(ren) have been put to test and have come out soaring by 

showing a sense of responsibility in being our partners and in respecting not only the law but the school protocol 

and decisions. The unity we have seen as a school community has been humbling. 

Teachers, who are our biggest asset, have demonstrated the ability to be flexible in the face of change, resilient 

in the face of challenges, and passionate in their duty and care towards each of their students to ensure that they 

consistently give the best that they have to them. 

Not to forget our children, the reason for our existence, as a school, who have been true superheroes! Defying 

laws of school life, learning, home, space, and time, they have emerged victorious. This year has been especially 

hard on the children but they have risen above our expectations by adapting to new environments and norms, and 

being resilient in ways that we did not think possible. 

Maria Montessori said children are “endowed with unknown powers”. The children have proven to us that the 

powers are amazingly real. We have all learned from the children that life goes on despite hardships and challenges 

and the power of positive thinking, to keep a smile on our faces no matter what. 

The “radiant future” that Maria Montessori foresees is the power of resilience in our children to see the “fun” and 

smile in the face of pandemic and war and adapt to the situation by keeping themselves happy and energetic. As 

educators and caregivers, we must invest in the children to ignite their power ensuring that they have the energy 

to face the challenges and develop towards building a better and brighter future for a better world. 

I would like to express my utmost gratitude and appreciation to the SISB community. I know, and trust, that the

My dear K1 Faith, 

I confess that the beginning of this year was scary to me because I had never started an academic year online. I 

thought that it would be tough to lead such a young group who had never known me. However, you showed so 

much responsibility during HBL. I am happy that we strove together to pass that difficult obstacle, which would 

have been impossible without your parents’ effort and dedication. 

You kept surprising me when we returned to onsite learning. You were courageous, I know that it was not easy 

to interact with your teachers and friends after a long time of isolation. You showed so much resilience in facing 

your fears and working hard to achieve our goals. Thank you. You also proved that you could be great inquirers 

and thinkers! I loved to watch you questioning each other and using your thinking skills to solve problems. I saw 

you talking confidently about the things you learned, which has been the best gift I could get in my profession. 

Thank you for that, too.
