Moving Up
“The Moving Up Chapel is one of my
favorite traditions of the year. I always get
a little teary as Mrs. Van Overen leads the
students in singing, ‘Friends Are Friends
Forever’.”
This sentiment is one shared time and time again by
students, parents, and faculty members who attend this
special chapel that serves as a school-wide celebration of
the school year completed and marks the transition to the
coming year’s grade.
An advisor or teacher from each grade highlighted the
class’s many experiences and academic accomplishments
from the year and reassured them that they are well
prepared for the challenges of the grade to come.

“I don’t want to leave third grade. I love
(my teacher),” shared a student with a tear
in her eye.
The students then confidently moved up to the pew
where they will sit in chapel beginning in August when
school resumes.
As it always does, the chapel concluded with Mrs. Van
Overen, and Mrs. Barry this year, leading the students in
singing the Michael W. Smith classic, “Friends Are Friends
Forever” to the graduating class and wishes for a happy
summer from the Head of School Ms. Fredericks.
As Gale Penner retires, the school wished her all the best.
