On the 18th of August local girl
Susannah Judge is going to take part
in a sponsored ‘Ironman Challenge’
over a ten-day period. This will
include: 2.4 miles of swimming, 112
miles on the bike, and 26.22 miles
running!
Susannah is doing all of this to raise
money to take part in the World
Scout Jamboree and she’s going to
need as much help as she can get.
Susannah told us, “I've got the
opportunity to represent Eckington
in an amazing experience within
scouting that will take me to the
World Scout Jamboree 2023 in
South Korea. In order for me to
seize this adventure, I need to raise
a total of £3495.”
As the young leader at 6th
Eckington Scout Group, Susannah
volunteers her time helping young
people who are aged between six
years old upwards. They experience
the fun, challenge, and adventure of
scouting as well as the skills for life,
and the opportunities.
Going on the world Scouts
Jamboree will help to learn more
about other cultures from 150
countries and meet other like
minded scouts. 40,000 other Scouts
to be exact!
“When I get back from the world
Scout jamboree, I’m going to shout
loud about it and share my
experiences with my friends and the
local community so that they too
can learn how amazing scouting is.
In the future I aspire to be a
leader so that I myself can help
other scouts to experience the
adventure.”
To raise money, Susannah has been
baking cakes, selling the cakes (as
well as trying not to eat them!). She
has been doing this as well as
running tombolas at Renishaw Hall
and the Eckington Festival but the
next challenge is the big one!!!
Susannah said, “I've been training,
swimming, and cycling, and running
with my Dad. It's been hard
work but I'm very dedicated to
completing this challenge to raise
the money that I need for this
adventure.”
