10 mhmatters.net Safeway Fuel Station To Open September 28 Supply parts delay sets opening of store back until late this year even as shops begin to open in the retail buildings Issue #104 • September 2022 Cries of “why is it taking so long,” or “see! we’re never getting a Safeway,” can be heard through the ether of the internet. Safeway has reportedly fallen to the effect of what has become the proverbial supply chain issue decree. A key electrical switch necessary for the completion of an operable market has reportedly been on back-order. Word from the Project Supervisor in early August was that they were told it would be here Sept 1. MHMatters has not confirmed at press time whether that part came in. Regardless, the reality is the store will open sometime soon, hopefully before year’s end. However, all is not lost, oh no no-oh! For those of you who have not had an opportunity in recent days to drive by, the Safeway Fuel Station is poised to open on September 28, 2022, according to the big sign posted at the edge of the Starbucks. There is no indication as to whether the convenience market will also be open at that time, too, but residents are already expressing delight in their anticipation of having an actual gas station within our community town limits. Additional shops are poised to open soon, as well, so keep your eyes peeled. JEI Learning Center just opened September 7, along with Starbucks in mid-August. Signs are out for the Aappakadai Indian Restaurant coming soon, which will serve South Indian Chettinad Food, along with offering delivery. More is on the horizon, too. Issue #104 • September 2022 mhmatters.net 11 Pumpkin Festival & Food Drive Returns October 23 @ Central Park Submitted by Colleen Jacobsen, Go2Realty Pros The Pumpkin Festival is back after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic and subsequent surges over 2020 and 2021. We started the Pumpkin Festival in 2012 as a way to thank our friends and neighbors for allowing us the opportunity to do business here in Mountain House. Each year since then we gave away pumpkins to carve with our kids. That was the foundation of our event. Over the years we scaled the event to become a huge community wide festival. We were able to bring in more activities and help support one of our favorite organizations, Second Harvest of Central Valley Food Bank. This year we will bring back our pumpkin giveaway, while supplies last. We will have 3 ponies, a petting zoo, mechanical bull, a 360 photo booth, a 25ft rock climbing wall, bouncy houses, DJ and Music plus food trucks! All activities are free of charge, except the food trucks. The Pumpkin Festival will be bigger and better than ever. This year we will be introducing a Chili Cook Off.
