14 mhmatters.net August Music In The Park Goes from Maroon to Bollywood to Punjabi continued from page 1 was Moonmita Ghosh, with Bollywood Dhamaka, Regional and Punjabi Modern songs. Moonmita is a Zee Bengali Sa Re Ga Ma Fame popular Playback singer and local to our area. While the crew changed out the stage setup between bands, the dance duo Abhyassa, from the Questa School of Kuchipudi Dance, gave a beautiful intermission performance out in front of the stage. Introduced by their instructor, Mythreyi Sanisetty, the duo showed grace and talent throughout their 20 minute performance. Punjabi Folk song artist Rajn Sandhu, came on to perform a duet with Moonmita before she and her band turned the stage over to him for about a half hour set of his own. Despite the extreme heat of the day, the entire show ran smoothly and all the acts were top notch. The next Music In The Park will be held September 17, featuring the return of Steelin’ Chicago - a tremendous band, complete with horn section, serving tribute to both Steely Dan and Chicago. Re-Elect Colin Clements to the LUSD Board of Trustees Colin Clements is a CPA with over 25 years of experience in construction, including the planning and construction of schools. These skills remain critical to the District as it seeks to build three more elementary schools and additional buildings at the high school. Colin Clements has a history of service to our District that began even before serving on the Lammersville Unified School District Board: 3 Executive Board Member: Wicklund School Foundation, Bethany School Foundation, Questa School Fountation, and Mountain House High School Visual and Performing Arts Booster Club 3 Founding Executive Board Member: Mountain House High School Athletic Booster Club Successes on Behalf of the District Before Joining the LUSD School Board: 3 Ensured that the District received $8 million in matching funds on Bethany Elementary School, rather than the $4 -$5 million that the District initially appealed for by meeting with members of the State Allocation Board. 3 Leveraged contacts at the Division of State Architects to quickly resolve a recurring natural gas leak at Wicklund Elementary School that had been dragging on for approximately six months. District Successes During Colin’s Tenure on the LUSD School Board: While a School Board Member cannot take individual credit, there are a number of notable accomplishments that the District has achieved during his tenure on the Board, including: • Passed “Measure L” to enable LUSD to complete the high school. • Planned, designed, and financed six different schools and other facilities. • Implemented use of “Land Sale Transactions” whereby the district receives more matching funds from the state without costing the District or the developer any additional money. • Maintained ranking as the highest performing school district in San Joaquin County. • Surpassed Livermore schools (based upon CAASPP scores), and closing gap with Dublin and Pleasanton schools. • Transitioned to remote learning within 72 hours of Governor mandated lockdown (45% of schools in California could not even provide regular access to teachers within four weeks of lockdown).
