Beam blanks that have been cast at our own steel plant (hot charging) are about 500 °C
when charged into the pusher type furnace. This warmth “transfer” creates heating energy
savings and therefore synergy effects. When the blocks have reached the correct temperature
for rolling, a discharging device takes them out of the furnace and the layers of oxide
that have built up during the reheating process are removed by means of a high-pressure
water descaler (170 bar). This is done by water spraying on the beam.
