THE AUTHOR<br />
Dr Thomas Hoppe worked as a restorer and<br />
artist in Hamburg-Ottensen. Since the beginning<br />
of the 1990s, he has published studies<br />
on painting techniques, including the German<br />
classic on the subject of painting materials:<br />
Max Doerner's Malmaterial. As a professor,<br />
he has taught painting techniques<br />
and the subject of paint. E. A. <strong>Seemann</strong> has<br />
also published his volumes "About Painting"<br />
(Malkunde) and "Wax Painting"<br />
(Wachsmalerei).<br />
