As one of the leading contemporary opera<br />
singers, the American baritone Thomas<br />
Hampson is a regular guest at leading international<br />
opera houses. He is also widely acclaimed<br />
as a concert singer who always carefully<br />
researches and compiles his programs<br />
about the German romantic lied and the<br />
American art song.<br />
He teaches at the Heidelberg Lied Academy<br />
of the music festival Heidelberger Frühling,<br />
at the Salzburg Festival and the Manhattan<br />
School of Music in New York.<br />
In this portrait, which consists of an autobiographical<br />
sketch and five theme-related<br />
conversations with Clemens Prokop, the artist<br />
and cosmopolitan talks for the first time in<br />
book format about his passion for music and<br />
his almost unlimited curiosity about the<br />
world.<br />
Over 100 photographs, some of which have<br />
never before been published, provide new<br />
insights into the stages of his personal and<br />

THE AUTHOR<br />
Clemens Prokop, born in 1974, was a music<br />
critic, has already published several books<br />

Giovanni" (Bärenreiter/<strong>Henschel</strong> 2012) and<br />
produces interactive shows.<br />
