Toadlets in terrarium-Lynne-Betts Toadfest returned! For the first time in three years, we hosted Toadfest at Summit Lake Provincial Park! Nearly 400 people enjoyed the displays and learned about western toads and other local plants and wildlife. Although the toad migration through the park was relatively small this year compared to other areas of the lake, more than 1,500 toadlets were collected and moved safely across the highway. Kootenay Mushroom Festival Introducing the very first year of the Kootenay Mushroom Festival, a fun and informative celebration of all things fungal! This year we are holding the festival in and around beautiful Kaslo BC and have a full day of events perfect for families, serious mycophiles, and newcomers alike! We begin with a morning walk in the woods guided by a select group of local experts, afterwards reconvening with a discussion of our finds and then breaking for lunch. In the afternoon, participants can choose from a variety of sessions, with everything on the table, from mushroom medicine to needle felting to growing your own mushrooms.
