Sunday Schedule of Events
1:45–3 pm A Tribute to Bonita Boyd,
Roman 2 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient
Join us in this celebration of Bonita Boyd’s remarkable career as
a performer, mentor, and beloved friend to generations of
flutists. The creators of this concert collaborated to showcase the
many ways Boyd inspired each of them, not only in her own
artistry and signature repertoire but also in the meaningful ways
that she encouraged her students to find their individual voices.
The program features the contributions of flutists from diverse
professional backgrounds and eras, including Mindy Kaufman,
Emily Skala, Aaron Goldman, Alyce Johnson, Donna Shin,
Maria Harding, Joanna Bassett, Jeffrey Barker, Gina Sebastian,
Kasumi Leonard, Mihoko Watanabe, Jennifer Parker-Harley,
Valerie Watts, Cynthia Folio, Daria Binkowski, Amy Hamilton,
Jennie Brown, and Hilary Abigana and The Fourth Wall
Ensemble. Program on page 212.
2–2:50 pm Scale Mirrors: Whole Tone, Octatonic, Hexatonic,
Octavius 2 and Chromatic Scales Made Easy!
As many staples of the flute repertoire drift from a tonal
center, mastery of symmetrical scales is not only important
but also fun! Bring your flute and join Molly York as we
explore these scales.
2–3 pm Piccolo All Stars: Top 40!
Octavius 22 An all-piccolo chamber music recital features Regina Helcher
Yost, Deborah Baron, Carl Hall, and Sarah Jackson, with
music by Jan Bach, Dehnhard, Schocker (world premiere!),
Benshoof, and Waterhouse. Program on page 214.
2–3 pm National High School Flute Choir Concert
Pompeian Eva Amsler conducts flutists Oria Aspen Alexander, Gabriela
Nisly, Isaac Alter, Zachary Arend, Bryan Baker, Haelin Cho,
Emily Duncan, Ashley Fleming, Ann Green, Mimi Harding,
Tasiaeafe Hiner, Erin Keppner, Katja Kochvar, Rachel Li, Cindy
Lin, Laurella Lutz, Sarah Meidel, Sarah Mitchener, Lucy

Octavius 16 to Extended Techniques, with Matthias Ziegler
