OUR MISSION The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley will create positive change by collaborating with partners to educate and empower children and families across the Mahoning Valley
DEAR FRIENDS: As a modern United Way, we have transformed and refined our impact in the Mahoning Valley over the past 102 years, growing from an organization that began by collecting funds to innovators who focus on community needs and identify gaps where we can step in and step up to make a real and positive difference on those who need us the most in the Mahoning Valley. While the pandemic heightened urgent and emerging needs, United Way has always been positioned to lead and collaborate by understanding the problems, identifying disparities, and improving lives through direct service, collaboration, volunteerism and advocacy. Our goal is to leverage funds with a purpose, as we did in <strong>2021</strong>. Entering the third years of the Covid Crisis our United Way feeds hungry children and families, provides basic and essentials needs, supports nonprofit partners who suffered drops in funding and helps rebuild our community. On the fundraising side, we shared our story with our donors and volunteers that we were maximizing every dollar for impact where our community needed it most. We recognize we cannot do this work alone. It will continue to take all of us, United, to make real change for those who are the most vulnerable. We are so thankful to the thousands of donors who trust and believe in our work. A special thank you to the hundreds of volunteers, who on many frigid Saturdays, unload and pack food monthly for up to 400 families. A thank you as well to the volunteers who read to our children, those who Christmas shop to make certain our students in afterschool will have gifts on Christmas morning and the many other volunteer opportunities that so many of you support. Your loyal giving and volunteering is what makes all of us who work at United Way so proud and appreciative of all of you.
