<strong>The</strong> holiday season is definitely time to pop open the bubbles<br />
and celebrate the end of the year and the promise of the year to<br />
come. Champagne has been the traditional drink since the 16th<br />
century when the aristocratic would drink it as it was elite and<br />
expensive.<br />
However over the past ten years we have seen the rise of prosecco<br />
sales, outselling Champagne due to its lower price point and less<br />
acidic taste.<br />
Enter stage right, Cremant. This bubbly tipple is on the rise as<br />
savvy Champagne drinkers realise they can have the same<br />
quality as the traditional drink but for a much lower price point.<br />
Cremant is made using the same process as Champagne but is<br />
not grown in the Champagne region. <strong>The</strong>re are currently eight<br />
areas in France making Cremant, with the more popular ones<br />
being Bordeaux and Alsace.<br />
<strong>The</strong> pop of the cork, followed by the tantalising wisp of smoke, all<br />
wrapped up in the fizzing excitement as it is poured into the flute.<br />
