On theother hand, the intolerance manifested byLBTQIAP+phobia refers to the hatred of differentspectrums of sexuality that do not fit intoheteronormativity, while misogyny refers to hatredagainst women and girls in general. In COISAPÚBLICA, most of the spectators end up comingacross characters that, in some way, they can identifywith, seeing as if reflected in a mirror, theirhypocrisies, repressions (Verdrängung), andprejudices."The idea was to create an allegorical microcosm ofour society. They are characters that, on purpose, border the stereotype, precisely to highlight thisidentification model. This doesn’t mean that theydon’t have depth and that they are not believable intheir universe. I was very happy with the cast's workin this construction", concludes André Borelli."In this way, the feature film seeks to show viewers inBrazil and the world that hiding wounds with superficialbandages, without actually treating them, onlyaggravates them, causing gangrenes that can lead toworse illnesses, which manifest themselves in our societyin cases of verbal and physical violence stimulated byintolerance, acts of terrorism throughout the country, and also politically motivated murders, even after therecent election with the credibility of a government planthat seeks to reorganize and strengthen our democracyand the balance between the powers. The film serves as an act of exorcism to the demons stillvery present in our daily lives, which, even weakened anddefeated, will still prowl the margins fomenting hatespeeches and acts, and, therefore, must be fought daily, through justice, through the anti-racist and anti-fasciststruggles, and through the legal punishment to thepropagators of intolerance, who dress it up as "freedom ofspeech". The Austrian philosopher Karl Popper calls thisdilemma the "paradox of tolerance", in his book "TheOpen Society and Its Enemies" (1945), where he warns usthat: "Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearanceof tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even tothose who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defenda tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance withthem."We at BIMIFF Magazine wish that works such as AndréBorelli's movie be manifestations of our art and also aspolitical tools, in favor of defending democracy, tolerance, social justice, and social harmony, but withoutusing passivity, hiding the strength of the people and thethirst for equity in mere hashtags and repudiation notes, but rather spreading hope as a verb, instead of just anoun."Coisa Pública" had its premiere in September 2022, andfeatures Priscila Ubba, Leonardo Silva, Dan Stulbach,Esdras Saturnino, Gabriela Mag, Pablo Diego Garcia,Dora Figueiredo, and Bruno Pacheco. The actress Prisicila Ubba, and the actor Leonardo Silva playing thecharacter "Daniel"
