Medical Marijuana’s Latest Investors?

The Federal Government + Pfizer

On April 1st, the House voted to “federally decriminalize”

cannabis in a 220-204 vote with bipartisan

support. The bill claims it “will prevent federal agencies

from denying federal workers security clearances for

cannabis use, and will allow the Veterans' Administration

to recommend medical marijuana to veterans

living with posttraumatic stress disorder, expunges

the record of people convicted of nonviolent cannabis

offenses, plus gains revenue by authorizing a sales tax

on marijuana sales.”

Over the past year, the federal government has gotten

a lot of criticism for subsidizing private companies for

electric cars and vaccine manufacturing, generating

private profit from public funding. If Pfizer received

$10 billion of our tax dollars for the vaccine, then profited

over $32 billion in 2021, why aren’t the American

taxpayers entitled to a return on investment?

The long-awaited federal change for cannabis reform

turns out to be timely for Pfizer with so much cash

on hand. In December 2021, Pfizer announced a $6.7

billion investment into medical marijuana, through

their acquisition of Area Pharmaceuticals Inc. The two

publicly traded companies agreed Pfizer would acquire

all outstanding shares of Arena in an all cash-transaction

at $100/share.

"The proposed acquisition of Arena complements

our capabilities and expertise in Inflammation and

Immunology, a Pfizer innovation engine developing

potential therapies for patients with debilitating immuno-inflammatory

diseases with a need for more effective

treatment options," commented Mike Gladstone,

global president of inflammation and immunology at

Pfizer.

Arena president and CEO of Amit D. Munshi stated,

“Arena’s potentially best in class S1P molecule

and our contribution to addressing unmet needs in

immune-mediated inflammatory diseases. Pfizer’s

capabilities will accelerate our mission to deliver our

important medicines to patients. We believe this transaction

represents the best next step for both patients

and shareholders.”

Historically, Pfizer is rooted in the medical marijuana

market. Its subsidiary Parke Davis was a leading American

distributor of medicinal cannabis in the early

1900s. In 2015, Forbes reported:

Parke Davis even worked with Eli Lilly to create its

own plant strain called Cannabis Americana, which

was a domesticated indica strain. Parke Davis was once

the largest drug company in America, but is now a

subsidiary of Pfizer…

No stranger to recreational drugs, Parke Davis originally

sold various forms of cocaine before it was illegal

and was also the patent holder for the drug PCP and

the developer of ketamine, another drug used for recreational

purposes. According to a spokesman at Pfizer,

the company is no longer involved in any cannabis

research and hasn't been for years.

Six years and $6.7 billion later, the company is now

leading cannabis research. While Pfizer studies cannabinoids

for autoimmune conditions, they have also

spent our tax dollars on an injection that causes them

- namely immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia, autoimmune

liver diseases, Guillain-Barré syndrome, IgA

nephropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus

erythematosus, according to an NIH study released in

April 2022. Perhaps medical marijuana will help relieve

the side-effects that Pfizer tried to hide until 2076,

which would appear on-brand for the global giant considering

their release of heart medication for youth as

well as ongoing development for hair growth drugs.

If Pfizer can develop treatments for myocarditis and

alopecia which are linked to its own vaccines, why

wouldn’t they look to cannabis for the reported autoimmune

issues? The law?

Despite its longstanding classification prohibiting use,

the federal government has funded medical marijuana

studies by the billions since 2017, explicitly in HIV and

immunocompromised research. Researchers tend to

prefer synthetic cannabinoids because they are more

efficiently produced and easily controlled compared to

natural growth. So while our tax dollars have already

been funding GMO marijuana, possessing it medically

or recreationally in its natural form has been a felony

for citizens - until the bipartisan win for the April 1st

bill.

Whether Pfizer’s investment was a predetermined

move guided by the legislation that followed - or vice

versa - Americans have been confronted with unprecedented

government/pharmaceutical collusion over the

past 2 years. Government’s involvement in medicine

has taken the form of mandates, incentives, coercion,

job security, and of course, propaganda. A FOIA filed

by The Blaze revealed that the Biden Administration

paid hundreds of media companies millions of our tax

dollars to advertise COVID-19 vaccines, like ABC,

CBS, NBC, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, the Washington

Post, the New York Post, the Los Angeles Times, and

so on. Considering how collaboration among government

and big pharma has been directing the media,

could medical marijuana be their next poster child?

While it doesn’t look like we will be forced to subsidize

Pfizer joints and mandated to smoke them like their

vaccine and boosters, cannabis users have displayed

clear mistrust in Pfizer’s cannabis pursuit. In a poll of

500 smokers, only 4% said they would smoke a joint

manufactured by Pfizer, with 12% saying they would

take a Pfizer cannabis product in a medical situation as

recommended by a doctor.

State by state, we have seen what the medicalization

and recreationalization of marijuana looks like in various

models. Because each state is unique in its laws,

no single company has been able to swoop in and take

over the market. Despite varying taxes and restrictions,

production and sales in America’s current cannabis

trade have been regionally based because they had

to be, keeping farmers in reasonable control of their

business.

Nationally however, we are on the brink of witnessing

what the industrialization of marijuana will look like.

And yet again in the sphere of medical problems and

innovations, Pfizer appears to be leading the way.

pot, but North America has largely surpassed

the Netherlands as far as public accessibility

to recreational marijuana. While

Dutch law recognizes a “tolerance policy”

toward marijuana, it is still not legal, and

the gray areas between a licensed cannabis

coffee shop and legacy market has brought

the industry to be dominated by organized

crime. Amsterdam’s mayor is also dedicated

to outlawing use of cannabis coffee

shops to tourists to curtail crime.

Marijuana is decriminalized in Spain,

where medical access is regulated and recreational

users can join a Cannabis Social

Club. Luxemburg has legalized growing

and using cannabis, though not commerce.

France is piloting a free medical cannabis

program for cancer patients, while Switzerland

conducts scientific and economic

studies about the market and recreational

use. Italy and Malta continue to work on

decriminalization policies to combat the

black market. Still, can we really expect the

Old World to “catch up” to ours in today’s

volatile climate of invasion and war?

It’s 2022, and you still can’t legally purchase recreational marijuana

anywhere in Europe. While global medical measures

steadily expand following North America’s example, recreational

legislation continues to lag, leaving Europeans with a

growing grab-bag of “quasi-legalization” measures.

We all used to think of Amsterdam as the global hot spot for

According to Germany, yes. The coalition

that replaced Chancellor Angela Merkel

in December 2021 announced a plan to

legalize cannabis in November 2021. Since

medical cannabis was legalized in Germany

in 2017, the nation secured the largest

cannabis market in Europe. It is unclear

whether recreational legislation will permit

domestic cultivation, or that all use will

continue to be regulated by the government.

The University of Düsseldorf projects

over a $5.3 billion increase for annual

tax revenue with the recreationalization

of cannabis, as well as an estimated 27,000

jobs to manage the industry.

With Germany set to become the first European

country with a legal and regulated

market, could North America have a cutting

edge on exports? We have seen what

happens to states like Maine where canna-

J13

bis has surpassed the blueberry as its most lucrative cash

crop - what is the likelihood of revenue expanding to the

international market?

The US cannabis market continues to grow and break its

own records. By 4/20/21, Americans spent $112 million in

cannabis retail sales for the year. By 4/20/22, that revenue

increased by 38.1%, reaching $154.4 million. Still, we are not

the cannabis king of the world trade.

Thanks to the US’s continual failure to align federal policies with the will

of the states, Canadian companies currently dominate the global cannabis

market. The US’s federal restrictions forbid cannabis companies in

our stock exchange from dealing with the plant directly. This snag keeps

investment opportunities out of the pockets of American farmers and entrepreneurs,

and instead funds mega-corporations like Anheuser Busch for marijuana-infused beverage partnerships,

or biotech firms like the 22nd Century Group, which contracts out the genetic modification of the plant.

Tech companies are also included in the US exchange, such as NASDAQ’s Akerna, which connects data points

across the global cannabis supply chain. As of now, outlets like dispensaries and edible manufacturers are not

viable to be publicly traded.

Germany’s plan for recreational legalization intends to welcome US and Canadian cannabis companies into the

European market, but with a learning curve of international regulation.

“In Europe, businesses have to comply with the highest possible pharmaceutical standards, including good

manufacturing practices (GMP),” explained Curaleaf International CEO Antonio Costanzo. “It is not the case in

the United States and Canada, where their standards are lower than the pharmaceutical ones and specific for the

cannabis industry. Curaleaf International has already complied with the European regulation because it devel-

J16

oped it with EMMAC. Currently, we have cultivation

facilities in Portugal, two pharmaceutical labs in Spain,

and the United Kingdom that comply with European

standards. In this way, we can sell our products across

Europe, including the UK, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland.”

While Costanzo names Germany as Europe’s current

largest cannabis market followed by Italy and the UK,

due to differing policies, medical patients experience

limited options.

“The product that we can provide to European patients

depends on domestic regulation,” Costanzo stated.

“Today, the only available products are flowers and

extracts. However, we think to provide more product

formulations soon, including tablets, creams, gel, and

vaping devices. But, at the same time, we need an evolution

on the regulatory front in certain countries.”

Widespread distribution is a game that Curaleaf

dominates in the US, with investment partnerships

from North Dakota to New Jersey, not to mention 15

dispensaries in Florida alone. While small farmers

and cannabis retailers may not like the prospects of

a centralized cannabis market, the world seems to be

moving in that direction - fast.

projects legal sales to reach about $50 billion worldwide

by the year 2025 and $57 billion by the year 2027,

with the US & Canada generating about $46.5 billion

of sales. The largest growth rate is anticipated with a

projected $2 billion across world markets in 2027 with

67% of the market covered by recreational sales, and

the remaining 33% in medical.

“We shouldn’t forget that cannabis has been illegal for

over 70 years in the world,” Curaleaf ’s Constanzo also

stated. “I think that the stigma on cannabis is getting

removed, and its perception is also changing thanks to

medical cannabis development.”

As perceptions change, so does the market. Over the

past decade, millions of Americans have witnessed

the shift of the cannabis trade from our back-alleys

into retail stores with tax codes. And over the next five

years, we can plan on seeing what that looks like for

the rest of the planet as well.

In 2020, global cannabis sales increased by 48% since

2019, reaching nearly $21.3 billion, and are only continuing

to grow. The BDSA’s global cannabis forecast

Who, What & Why

drive popular legacy coins like Bitcoin and Peercoin.

In my original article on the subject back in

2019 I wrote the following:

“Think of MotaCoin as the Bitcoin of the cannabis

industry, but better. Better because its safe, secure,

and peer-to-peer. Better because, unlike Bitcoin’s

overly inflated fees, MotaCoin’s transaction fees are

less than one millionth of a penny. Better, most of

all, because it was actually designed to be what a

cryptocurrency is supposed to be - currency. Too

many cryptocurrencies have become assets to be

traded and speculated on rather than what they

truly are - a giant middle finger to the current

financial monopolies.”

MotaCoin was created, first and foremost, to solve a problem.

The financial burden on cannabis dispensaries and related

businesses has become a massive problem. Banks are

either unable or unwilling to provide banking and digital

payment processing services to honest licensed canna-businesses,

creating a very inconvenient - and frankly

dangerous - “cash only” situation on the ground for otherwise

upstanding people and entrepreneurs. At its core,

MotaCoin is a decentralized digital currency also known as

cryptocurrency. For anyone who is unfamiliar with “crypto”,

it’s really pretty simple. It isn’t “magical internet money”,

although it can admittedly feel like that sometimes. It’s

created by a set of rules called a protocol. Each coin can

have a slightly different set of rules, or even slight variations

of existing sets of rules. MotaCoin has basically done

both. They have solved issues with security AND accessibility

in a unique combination of those sets of rules that

Turns out I was right. The MotaCoin team have

countered one of the biggest complaints hurled

at cryptocurrency: functionality. Can it be USED?

Well, Mota sure can; and IS. In fact, it's already

being used in a number of shops and dispensaries

and even at events like the 2019 Mota Cup! Besides

that, they’ve solved issues of scalability and accessibility

that have plagued other crypto projects.

Remember those sets of rules? Well, MotaCoin

uses a hybrid mining protocol that combines Proof

of Work (POW) and Proof of Stake (POS). Proof

of Work protocols require a lot of computational

power to solve “blocks'' and add them to the blockchain

and Proof of Stake protocols simply require

users to hold, or stake, coins on the blockchain.

The new hybrid consensus used by MotaCoin

greatly increases the integrity and reliability of the

blockchain by adding in critical safeguards to

block against double spending attacks. The network

is ultra secure and lightning fast, providing

users an easier and safer way to make transactions

without the need to collect personal information.

I know it can sound like another language sometimes

but the important things to take away are

that it's here to stay, its ultra-secure, and when it

comes to spending it, it's no different than

making an online purchase with a digital credit

card or sending a Venmo with the scan of a QR

code - only decentralized, faster, and infinitely

more secure then either. MotaCoin is definitely

making waves, not only in the cannabis industry

but in the crypto space as well - and it shows.

In the short few years that have passed since I was

introduced to this amazing project, the team has made some critical moves and met some impressive milestones.

With that in mind, let's catch up on everything new and exciting that’s been going on!

What’s New With MOTACOIN

Coinbase.com is now tracking MotaCoin's market analytics which gives them

access to some cool functions they offer, such as their how-to-buy tutorials

The team has clearly been busy, despite that nearly global shutdown we’re collectively trying to forget (might

need some stronger indicas for that!). The MotaCoin crew has been making strides these past few years nevertheless,

and the results are pretty impressive to say the least.

Just as one example, MotaCoin was listed on BlockchainFinancial.com, an online exchange and crypto enthusiast

all-in-one stop, and on 4/20, 2020 MOTA was integrated into their “AutoCash System”, making it possible to

send, receive, tip, trade and even utilize MotaCoin directly on the Blockchain Financial ecosystem. More importantly

however, it accomplished the huge step of allowing end users to convert MotaCoin to any local fiat currency

supported, including US dollars, without the need - or interference - of the big banks.

After that, the team saw a domino effect begin to take place with more and more interest in the project. In October

of that same year, MotaCoin was listed on FreiExchange.com. This move had the added benefit of making

FreiExchange a sort of canna-crypto hub as it supports PotCoin, a partner team, as well. Being more open to

these cannabis projects has made Frei the main trading platform for MOTA. Just a short month later, MotaCoin

began being fully tracked on CoinMarketCap.com, the world's most-referenced and trusted price-tracking website

for crypto assets. In fact, CMC is the very first app I used to track coins when I initially got into cryptocurrency,

before I ever made my first trade. This development was huge because it greatly added to the coins’ branding

and profile, making it much more of a project to really be taken seriously by others. Sure enough, only a few

weeks after being tracked by CoinMarketCap, Coinbase got in on the action and started tracking MOTA’s market

analytics as well, opening users up to some cool functions they offer like short form tutorials such as “How to

Buy MotaCoin”. Even if you barely know anything about crypto, it’s likely you’ve heard about Coinbase. That’s

J24

how well known they are in the ever expanding crypto space. Coinbase is the first exchange I ever used and even

though it's not the only one I use anymore, I still trade on their platform to this day. MotaCoin showing up on

Coinbase’s radar definitely bodes well for the amazing momentum the team has been building!

What else has been App-ening?

In between being integrated into BlockchainFinancial and listed on a cascade of exchanges and tracking services,

the MotaCoin team hit a HUGE milestone. Although the Android wallet was published in the Google App Store

back in mid-2018, it only created access to MotaCoin for roughly half of all potential users. All that changed on

May 2nd, 2020, when the iOS wallet dropped in the iPhone App Store. It was critical to finish developing both

the Android & iOS Wallets to enable full scale retail adoption. Now everybody has the ability to use MOTA with

state of the art mobile wallets featuring strong security with the latest encryption & ease of use with a slick design.

The team, of course, hasn’t stopped there. I told you, they’ve been BUSY! In September of 2021 they introduced

their Rasberry Pi wallet. Besides making the coin more accessible, particularly to Raspberry Pi enthusiasts, it

also allows for the creation of what’s called a “Stake-Box” which stakes your MOTA on the low power consuming

Raspberry Pi 2/3/4! With all the (misguided and misunderstood) talk about cryptocurrency and energy consumption,

the RasPi wallet is the perfect solution for a green future, specifically highlighting power efficiency

and energy conservation. In a crucial step of this ongoing process, the MotaCoin team has been

granted Apple & Microsoft Developer/Publisher accounts, used to cryptographically sign the MotaCoin desktop

wallet executables, which allows for the Windows, Mac & Linux operating systems to recognize MotaCoin

wallets as being published through verified means. This is a very important detail that a lot of projects tend to

overlook. Now with all that under their belt, the project can shift gears to focus on what it was meant to do - increasing

adoption as far and wide as possible in the cannabis industry.

New Places To Learn About and Use MOTA

MotaCoin has already been accepted as payment in several businesses across the industry for some time, most

notably at 4 dispensary locations - 3 storefronts in Maine, including Humble Family Farms and a wide spread

delivery service in sunny Orange County, California! They have also been accepted for purchases at online headshops

like Heady Treasures and Huffy Puffy. Now, as of summer, 2021, MotaCoin can be spent at Bell Smoke

Shop and New Edge Smoke & Vape, both in Massachusetts. What is really cool about the new locations is an

innovative idea the project team came up with. The informative MOTA Poster at these locations ALSO acts as a

“faucet”.

A crypto faucet is a way for users to get small amounts of free crypto. Free money! Faucets have been around for

a long time. The original bitcoin faucets used to give you 5 BTC every time you clicked it (a max of once ever

couple of hours). Can you imagine that! Of course it was pretty worthless then but anyone collecting from those

faucets back then is very happy today! Faucets, by their very nature, are typically digital and online but the MotaCoin

team has come up with a very cool physical solution to the classic faucet. The MOTA poster has a paper

wallet on it, which is programmatically filled with MOTA so that people who interact with the poster can

download the appropriate mobile wallet and scan the QR to transfer the balance. Simple as that. If it’s not enough

that you can mint new MOTA simply by holding it (staking), the team is coming up with ways to literally GIVE

you free coin. The faucet refills every 5 hours. You’re welcome Massachusetts!

MotaCoin in the Media

I really enjoyed my introduction to the project and the team back when I covered the MotaCup for Greenleaf

Magazine in the Dec 2019 issue. It was a fun article to write and a great team to work with. Since then, I’m glad

to report that they have been making a bit more buzz.

to report that they have been making a bit more

buzz.

In January of 2021, Data Driven Investor on Medium

released an article called, “Marijuana —Has the Investment

Boat Sailed?” in which the author discussed

several aspects of investing in and funding in the wider

cannabis industry. Included was a brief look at the

various cryptocurrencies currently in the space, and on

MotaCoin specifically, had this to say:

“There is still room for a cannabis focused cryptocurrency

to carve out a lucrative niche in this market but

they must sign one or more of the big MSO to gain

credibility. Potcoin and MotaCoin in our opinion are

in the best position to do that.”

Considering the two new locations to sign on later

that summer, as well as the increased accessibility

and greener mining with Raspberry Pi, I’d say they

were spot on. Towards the end of 2021, Hodlershub

(“HODL” is a slang term in the crypto world based on

a typo of the word ‘hold’), another online Crypto-enthusiast

hang-out published an interview with Jahvinci,

the founder of MotaCoin. It’s a great read and very

informative but one part in particular kind of jumped

out at me as why this team is having such great success.

You know the super cool “faucet” posters I mentioned

before. Well there’s more to them than that! When

asked what makes his canna-crypto project unique,

Jahvinci replied:

“MotaCoin is the only cannabis crypto project that

offers donations as incentives

through our Business Recruitment Fund. Up to 25,000

MotaCoin are donated to

each new business or licensed pharmacy/dispensary

that uses MotaCoin and

puts up a MotaCoin poster in their store, as well as

stocking MotaCoin brochures

near the point of sale terminal. All of which is sent to

the business cost-free.“

Investor Observer has written a number of pieces on

MotaCoin as they follow the project's rise. They seem

to be fairly impressed because in their latest release just

a few days ago on July 10,2022 titled “What's Next for

Bullish Rated MotaCoin (MOTA)?” they gave MOTA

a bullish rating despite the fact that the crypto market

more broadly has been rather bearish during the

prolonged dip that started last holiday season. Even

though MOTA, and the market more generally are still

down, Investor Observer is recommending MotaCoin

“for both short-term investors looking to ride a rally

and longer-term investors trying to buy the dip.”

It’s safe to say that team MotaCoin is making some

major waves. If you haven’t heard of them till now, it's

time to start paying attention and even get involved.

You can jump in anywhere from using MOTA to buy

beautifully curated buds (from licensed dispensaries)

to accepting MOTA at your cannabis related business.

At the VERY least, you could try visiting one of the

new locations to check out the innovative posters and

claim your free MOTA. Once you open that door, the

possibilities are nearly endless!

Stay Up To Date

Learning more and keeping up on new developments

couldn’t be easier. You can Follow MotaCoin across

most major social networks. Find them on Twitter

Talk about a killer business plan! Giving back is built

in from grassroots up. I think that, although they are a

cryptocurrency, the MOTA team has really managed to

capture the spirit of the counterculture they set out to

serve. It seems to be paying off because people are

beginning to pay closer attention.Even people well

outside the everyday cannabis world.

MotaCoin being listed on FreiExchange.com was a nice step forward as

this exchange also PotCoin & CannabisCoin, making it a hub of sorts of

cannabis related crypto’s. FreiExchange.com is currently the main trading

hub for MotaCoin.

Phoenix Blockchain

With 50+ collaborators working to bring PHX to

the marketplace, Phoenix Blockchain (PHX) is the

next stage of cryptocurrency as a utility. Launched in

November 2021, the Phoenix Blockchain was created

to meet a need for an all inclusive blockchain. With incredibly

low gas fees, this is truly a crypto for everyone,

allowing for development and creativity to shine,

without the barrier to entry of prohibitive gas fees that interfere with other projects. Our NFT marketplace, Fire-

Sea, Dex and Token marketplace, FireSwap, and Merchandise store, FireSwag, will all be released soon to allow

for a streamlined user experience and massive

adoption! Partnerships in place to bring the visions of web3 and the metaverse to fruition and supplement exponential

BlockchainFinancial.com

Blockchain Financial has some exciting news as well, earlier this year the AutoCash feature was rolled out. To

“help business of all sizes that sell goods or services accepting payments in cryptos from their customers and

getting fiat in return using an electronic payment gateway like PayPal, Venmo and virtually any other.”

The AutoCash feature on BCF is an all in one p2p payment gateway that simplifies the process of paying with

cryptocurrency at local brick and mortar stores, exchanging the crypto for local fiat using their fully automated

AutoCash system.

Blockchain Financial also rolled out their Crypto Faucets this year! If you would like to learn about cryptocurrency,

visit BlockchainFinancial.com/faucets and sign up so you can start collecting free drips of cryptocurrency

to see what the buzz is about. We recommend MotaCoin & DigitalNote to learn more about crypto due to their

virtually nonexistent transaction fees.

ReddCoin

ReddCoin is the original social media cryptocurrency, launched in January

of 2014 and is well positioned to fill the niche of a digital social currency

that's tightly integrated with human social interactions and acts as

the yardstick to concretize and quantify people's intangible asset of social

influence, as well as providing dynamic and live insight into social network

content and publishers of note intrinsic to the system as a natural follow-on

"microBIOMETER® is a 20-minute on-site soil test to determine

microbial biomass and fungal to bacterial ratio. This lab grade soil

test is simple to perform with rapid results. It’s faster, less expensive

and more accurate than sending your soil to labs because microbes

start dying once they are removed from the earth." Having a soil

tester, whether indoors or outdoors, is essential to making sure

your plants are going to, and are growing at their highest potential

and health. Whether you are growing Cannabis, Vegetables or

Flowers, this is an amazing product that will absolutely aid in creating a successful garden. Having healthy fungal

and bacterial ratios in your soil is so important. Out in nature, the fungi and bacteria work harmoniously

with the roots of the plants as a somewhat exchange program. The fungi and bacteria breakdown sediments and

compost, allowing them to become more bioavailable for the plants to uptake through their roots. In return,

the plants provide carbon dioxide for the microbes to eat. Use the movie "Avatar" and a visual reference. And if

the root system of the plant is happy and healthy, the upper part of the plant, will thrive as well. "As Above, So

Below."

Soil tests can be expensive, and a bit of a hassle. The microBIOMETER puts an end to that. It is easy to

use and will automatically log your results in their app. As stated on MicroBIOMETER's website, " Soil microbes

secrete a substance that binds non-living soil particles to each other and to themselves. Our patented

method extracts the microbes from the bound soil particles which then settle to the bottom. The soil-colored

microbes remain suspended in the fluid and are sampled. The sample is placed on a testcard which is scanned

using a smartphone (iPhone or Android). Our smartphone application measures the color intensity of the

microbes as compared to a color comparator surround on the testcard. The results were validated using a computerized

analysis of numerous microscopic images

of microBIOMETER® extracts from many different

soils. We found a 95% correlation with the area of

the microbes in these images and the results reported

for microbial biomass and fungal to bacterial

ratios using microBIOMETER."

The microBIOMETER tells you:

The higher the microbial biomass, the more nutrients available

to your plant naturally, decreasing or eliminating the need for

chemical fertilizers.

Microbes, especially fungi, are building soil structure

which prevents erosion.

If microbial biomass decreases after applying chemical fertilizer,

you have used too much.

F:B ratio of rhizosome soil will tell you if arbuscular

mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have colonized your plant making it

more resistant to drought and pests.

An increase in the F:B ratio indicates the green manure you

used is optimal.

Soil organic carbon is mainly the bodies of dead microbes, so

if you are not increasing your microbes you are not building

soil health or sequestering carbon.

A rapid increase in MB indicates the effectiveness of cover

crops and amendments.

GREEN-ROOMS:

Like Farmer Like Sons Catering

By: ChefMD

Green-Rooms:

Like a scene from ‘Almost Famous’, I find myself backstage in the Greenroom. Musicians, artists and a

halo of smoke midway between the floor and the ceiling like some type of cannabis purgatory. Drinks pouring,

beers opening, people in every direction with variations of intensity as crew and management delegate orders,

reminders and admiration to the revolving cast of friends, photographers and randoms that pass through the

green room ‘pre-show.’

I find myself politely jockeying for a corner of the room out of the way, yet somehow central, working-tightly

and quickly. I unpack an oversized Pelican cooler, filled with the bands catering:

a seemingly disordered amalgamation of items, all in different stages of completion. (The trick is to prep the

food & assemble onsite, without losing any of the foods integrity)

The energy in the air is more than electric and the clients are more than eclectic. This isn’t a regular

catering gig, not an anniversary or a Bar Mitzvah: This is “The Green Room” and ‘Green’ is the operative word.

It’s Summer, it’s festivals and we are serving “Elevated Appetizers” for rock Stars and Celebrities, and when I say

“Elevated” I mean “infused.”

What could be better? Backstage with your favorite bands, having a couple of ‘wobbly Pops’ and eating

high-end-infused appetizers?

Dear Diary: “How did I get

this job?!”

As that thought

passes through my head, I

quickly get back to work.

On the Menu:

Herb Rubbed-Prosciutto

wrapped pork tenderloin,

over an infused

-roasted garlic crostini:

Finished with an infused

Apple Compote. (This is

one of my favorites, super

versatile).

I am using 1oz of

“Garlic Breath Strain” made

into an oil & mounted with

roasted garlic oil, (equal

parts).

For the apple compote,

I am folding in a

tincture I made from 1oz

of “strawberry diesel cookies”

by Children of The Soil

(Biddeford, ME) its indoor

& the seeds by ‘Oni Seeds.’

Procedure:

Prep: as mentioned assembly without losing the foods integrity. Prep-Prep-Prep. Make your oil and tincture

prior (obviously) herb rub your pork tenderloin, season it, then wrap tightly with thin slices of prosciutto.

Pan-Sear the prosciutto pork, browning all sides and letting it rest at mid-rare. (it will carry over to medium)

once cooled down slice into ¼ inch medallions ad reserve.

Crostini: Slice a French baguette into ¼ inch slices as well, oil, salt, pepper and roast at 375 degrees until golden

and moisture free. (Reserve until assembly).

Roasted Garlic Oil: Roast off your garlic cloves in vegetable oil (slowly) until the garlic cloves are golden and soft

to the touch. Cool the oil and strain. Once cooled down, mount this garlic oil with your cannabis infused oil

50/50 equal parts. Reserve the oil in a squeeze bottle, for the crostini.

Apple Compote:

The apple compote is finely diced Jonagold Apples, red onions, thyme, rosemary, allspice, apple cider

vinegar and salted butter.

In a large sauté pan, sauté ¼ cup of diced red onion, (small dice) with a touch of oil, add in the apples,

salt, pepper. Add 1 tsp of cider vinegar, 1 tsp ground allspice, mix together. (there should be liquid from apples

releasing moisture). Add a ¼ stick of salted butter and reduce the compote mixture, the liquid will cook out and

thicken, take off the heat and add a pinch of chopped rosemary and thyme. Transfer to a tray and cool down.

Once cooled down transfer to a bowl and fold in ¼ cup of the “strawberry diesel cookie tincture”. Reserve until

assembly time refrigerated.

Having prepped and assembled all my products, it’s simply a matter of finding a space in this green room

where I can slap on some gloves and start making magic. As I cut through the lingering smog and claim my

corner; my pink Pelican cooler is catching the eyes of the artists, as they contemplate what goodies I might be

unveiling: or is “this tattooed, big bearded man just a homeless guy who looks like he really has his shit together?

has he somehow gotten by security?

A small crowd gathers about as I start to unpack, the artist and musicians suddenly are as excited as I am

to be there. As I start to rattle off my Elevator pitch:

“This is a Herb roasted prosciutto wrapped Pork Tenderloin, over a roasted garlic infused crostini,

topped with an infused Apple Compote, finished with micro greens. Its sweet, its salty, its earthy and you’re going

to love it.”

The excitement builds as I start the assembly-Roasted Garlic Crostini, hit with a drizzle of the garlic

breath infused oil, salt; then a medallion of the prosciutto pork (1/4 inch thick) on top of crostini. Next your

apple compote with herbs and diesel tincture. Just a dollop and garnish with micro greens. Release the doves and

the crowd goes wild.

I usually get 20 orders per tenderloin and we serve this app at room temperature. This is a great appetizer

and you change out the toppings and fold in your oils or tinctures with a number of ingredients, this dish travels

well and has a ‘High” impact.

The next time you’re catering a Green Room or if you're just trying to make your family gatherings more

interesting, try ‘Elevating” your appetizers.
