2.3 DURIGNIT � IR 2000 insulating system<br />

The motor is generally operated in the star circuit configuration and the specified<br />

voltages are present at the windings. If long motor feeder cables are used, then a<br />

possible voltage drop should be taken into account.<br />

For V/f = constant, for a constant torque, the motor current remains approximately<br />

constant over the frequency range.<br />

The motor current slightly increases at higher frequencies. The load currents for<br />

the 50 Hz and f max operating points are listed in the Chapter, Technical Data.<br />

If the motor is connected to a power source, e.g. the motor is connected to a group<br />

of motors which is already running, then the motor starting torque can be a multiple<br />

of the rated current. The starting currents for the 50 Hz and f max operating points<br />

are listed in the selection tables.<br />

At low frequencies, the no-load current can be greater than the rated current. The<br />

approximate current characteristic is shown in Fig. 2-1.<br />

2.3 DURIGNIT ® IR 2000 insulating system<br />

The DURIGNIT ® IR 2000 insulating system is made up of high-quality enamel<br />

wires and insulating materials in conjunction with a resin impregnation which does<br />

not contain any solvents.<br />

This guarantees a high mechanical and electrical strength, high quality and a long<br />

motor lifetime.<br />

The insulating system protects the winding against aggressive gases, vapors, dust,<br />

oil and increased air humidity. It can withstand the usual vibration stressing.<br />

The insulation is suitable up to an absolute air humidity of 30 g water per m 3 . Moisture<br />

condensation should be prevented from forming on the winding. The insulation<br />

is tropics-proof. If you have any higher requirements, please contact your local Siemens<br />

office.<br />

All of the motors have an insulation according to temperature Class F and the motors<br />

are utilized, at the rated power (when fed directly from the line supply or frequency<br />

converter) to temperature Class F.<br />
