Apprentice profile KYLE Abbott is a Level 2 Credit Control Apprentice, and when his apprenticeship is successfully concluded, he will become a Customer Advisor (Advanced). He joined United Utilities in March 2022, and is currently on the court team, engaged in a mixture of customer calls and back office work. “I was initially drawn to the apprenticeship as I saw it as a great opportunity to progress my career,” he explains. “I have multiple years’ experience in customer service and the apprenticeship has allowed me to strengthen my skills while showcasing my current knowledge within the role.” At the time of writing, Kyle is on the point of completing his second module of the course ‘credit and collections’: “Both modules have helped me massively within my role by helping me improve my interpersonal and collections skills,” he continues. “This has meant I have more confidence when conversing with customers regarding sensitive matters such as debt. “Since starting the apprenticeship I have improved my team working skills and my ability to receive feedback.” Fast learner Despite his comparatively short time within the business, Kyle has already been given plenty of opportunities to work towards his 20 percent ‘on the job’ learning in the form of projects and days out of the office to discover more about different parts of United Utilities: “The projects I am working on include an internal web page for our department and a guide for our Customer Account Officer to assist with the serving of legal documents. “As more and more colleagues within UU complete CICM qualifications the support for apprentices like myself, increases as more agents are able to use their experience from their work to help,” he adds. “I am driven to complete my Level 2 and will then aim to begin my Level 3 to further my development with CICM and the business.” Latest in a series of how CICM-led Apprenticeships are supporting professional development Kyle Abbot Apprentice Customer Advisor United Utilities “The projects I am working on include an internal web page for our department and a guide for our Customer Account Officer to assist with the serving of legal documents.” ." “As more and more colleagues within UU complete CICM qualifications, the support for apprentices like myself increases as more agents are able to use their experience from their work to help.” Apprenticeships in Credit Control and Collections There are five apprenticeships for those working in the credit profession.
