Villa Colombo Services for Seniors
Villa at Wasaga Beach
Once again, 24 seniors from the Elderly Persons’
Centre (E.P.C.) of Villa Colombo spent a beautiful
week at Wasaga Beach from August 10th to 17th,
2008 escorted by their coordinator Mirella Ialongo.
The seniors had a full week of activities and good
food. Everyone participated in daily exercises at 10
a.m., followed by long walks, card games and bocce
games. In the afternoon, one hour was dedicated to
reciting the rosary. The evenings always ended with
bingo and sitting around the bonfire, with the
exception of one night when the group went to Casino
Rama for dinner and of course to gamble!
The oldest of the group was an 89 year old
female, who was so happy to be able to attend that

Beginning in early October 2008, Villa
Colombo will be undertaking a major renovation of
all bathing areas in the Fusco Wing.
This project will be happening simultaneously
on all floors, including the ground floor, and it is
anticipated to take about four months to complete.
“This renovation is long overdue and we are
very excited with this opportunity to improve the
quality of life for our residents, and the overall
appearance of the home,” states Enzo Cuttini,
Chair, Villa Colombo Services for Seniors.
Since opening over 30 years ago, Villa
Colombo has undergone various renovations and
additions – including the construction of the Fusco
Wing in 1988 and the Fidani Wing in 2001.
“The current renovations of the bathing areas
demonstrate Villa Colombo’s commitment to provide the
best culturally sensitive care in a comfortable
environment,” states Cuttini. “During the project, the
highest standards of safety will be observed as health and
safety of our residents and staff is our highest concern.”

Though Villa Colombo is a long-term care facility,
it recognizes and supports seniors in achieving their
goal of living at home independently for as long as
possible. Villa Colombo’s Community Services offer a
range of programs that can keep the elderly
population out of institutions for as long as possible.
From the Frail Elderly Centre to Alzheimer’s
Day Program to 24-hour care, Villa Colombo
Services for Seniors is there for every step of the
aging process.
The next trip for the E.P.C. will be in February
2009 to Punta Cana for two weeks.
Harper Visit
Prime Minister Stephen Harper visits Villa
Colombo Services for Seniors in September and
chats with Giacomo Carcasole, who, at 104 years
of age, is the oldest resident at the Villa. The
Prime Minister marveled at Mr. Carcasole’s
patriotism and wit as they joked together in the
lobby of the home with a helpful hand from Pal
Di Iulio, President and CEO, Villa Charities.
