WELCOME
Kew Green Nursery is a co-educational independent nursery for children
aged 2 to 4.
I am honoured to be the
Head of Kew Green Nursery.
Our Nursery is part of
Kew Green Preparatory
School, situated a few
doors down from us on the
edge of Kew Green. At Kew
Green Nursery, we pride
ourselves on providing
a happy, nurturing and
secure environment, where
children enjoy learning and
can flourish.
Our enthusiastic and dedicated teachers offer
children a broad and balanced curriculum. In addition
to gaining language, mathematical, scientific and
technological skills, our children are encouraged to
develop enquiring minds, to question, reason and
make decisions.
During these early years, we hope to promote
excellent social skills and we encourage all children
to become responsible, confident and independent
learners. Children that attend Kew Green Nursery have
the opportunity to transition to the Reception class
at Kew Green Preparatory School, should this be the
desired choice.
At Kew Green Nursery we offer the perfect
combination of indoor and outdoor learning.
The mix of ages in the spacious early years
environment encourages a variety of learning
opportunities. By providing a balance of adult-led
and child-initiated activities, we are able to meet
the needs of each child, allowing them to develop
at their own pace.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Kew Green Nursery we aim to care for, nurture and educate children
to develop their self-confidence and resilience, their sense of kindness
and their passion for learning. We focus on who the children are becoming
as individuals.
We provide a safe and stimulating environment where children thrive and develop a sense of belonging
as they are cared for by our dedicated and talented staffing team.
Creativity, collaboration, confidence, and communication are at the heart of Kew Green Nursery. Through
an enquiry-based approach to the Early Years curriculum, it is our aim to provoke investigation and reflection.
The children will become researchers, explorers, designers, problem-solvers and risk-takers.
With us, they establish an articulate voice and self-awareness. The growth-mindset will be celebrated,
and we encourage our children to embrace, learn and grow from their mistakes.

OUR ENVIRONMENT
Our environment has been specifically designed to cater for our range
of age groups from 2 to 4 year olds.
Both indoor and outdoor spaces are designed to provoke a sense of wonder and excitement in our children and
include bespoke areas for roleplay, sand and water play, art and construction, a reading wall and places for quiet
time.
The large conservatory can be opened to integrate the indoor and outdoor learning spaces. The forest-school
inspired design and immersive landscape of our outdoor area includes a mini-forest, a climbing frame, a large
mud kitchen and a child friendly vegetable garden.
To enhance learning, we make use of our specialist teachers from Kew Green Preparatory School for lessons such
as PE, ICT, Music and Art. In addition, we use the glorious Kew Green for our Forest School sessions every Friday
afternoon.
We also have a café to be used by parents, staff and members of the public. We very much hope this will
strengthen our sense of community.

OUR CURRICULUM
We plan our daily routines and activities around the seven areas of the Early
Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
The areas of Development and Learning comprise of three prime areas: Communication and Language;
Physical Development; and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. There are also four specific areas:
Literacy; Maths; Expressive Arts and Design; and Understanding the World.
Learning takes place through the children engaging in a well prepared environment. At Kew Green Nursery,
the environment is of equal importance as our excellent Nursery Practitioners and Assistants, often referred
to as the ‘third teacher’. Children are taught individually, in small groups and sometimes as a class. Every
child is extended and can learn at their own pace, based on their individual interests and needs.
We aim to create a deep and long-lasting love for learning which will encourage our children to problem-solve,
think critically, explore and make mistakes. Importantly, we embrace their curiosity and sense of wonder
and awe.

COMMUNICATION
As parents are the first and most enduring educators, we seek to develop
an effective partnership with you. The primary ways of communicating with
your child’s Key Person is at drop-off and pick-up, on a daily basis.
The Famly app will also be an important communication tool between parents and the Nursery. The app will
enable the Nursery to update and communicate each child's daily activities, such as nappy/clothes changes
and meals. Parents will have access to their child’s pictures, videos and observations, as well as regular and
important announcements via their child’s newsfeed.
Parents can find all this information on their child’s Famly profile. Parents will also be able to send messages
directly to the Kew Green Nursery team via the app, as well as pay for any extra sessions or add-ons (e.g. smocks
or trips).

REGISTRATION
& ADMISSION
There are two main points of entry to Kew Green Nursery:
I. Nursery (2+): children enter the Nursery following their second birthday
II. Pre-prep (3+): children enter the Pre-Prep following their third birthday
Registration
Parents can register their child at any time from birth by completing the registration form online:
kewgreennursery.com/nursery-registration-form or filling out the paper form enclosed in this prospectus.
The registration fee is non-returnable and does not guarantee that a place will be offered.
Offer
Siblings of current pupils are given priority for places and thereafter children are seen according to their
date of registration until all available places are filled.
Acceptance
On receipt of an offer letter parents have seven days in which to accept a place. At this stage the deposit,
a signed acceptance form and proof of identification are required.
