Why did you decide to be a fireman?
One day, I was watching an episode of the show “Tru Calling”
and it was about a fireman who died saving someone from a
river. For some reason it made me think that there was a reason
for me to see this and my interest in becoming a firefighter was
born.
How long have you been with the department?
I have been with 172nd Airlift Wing Fire Department since 2005.
I started my career in 2004 with the Reservoir Fire Department
under Chief Scott Berry.
Tell us about your family.
I have been married to my wife Stevie Adams since 2011 and
I have three children: son Dylan (24), son Mason (20), and
daughter Kennedy (17). My wife is a charge nurse at UMC
(Batson North Clinic).
What is the toughest thing you have experienced in your job?
The toughest thing ever was having to be present as a 3-year-old
died after what seemed to be a routine medical emergency. That
one still crosses my mind anytime I have a medical call.
Share some things you enjoy doing in your spare time.
In my spare time I try to stay busy doing something. I own a
landscape company and my oldest son Dylan has his own as
well, so spare time is rare.

What are three things on your bucket list?
Bucket list items are to visit Yellowstone National Park, visit
Canada, and to go on an African safari. All of which may be
impossible since I truly hate flying!
