A floor slab of white concrete and slender
steel columns seems to levirtate above the
ground. Taking cues from local shade structures,
the bamboo offers protection from the
scorching Sicilian sun while simultaneously
appearing airy and open, effortlessly blending
into the existing white stucco facade of
the original villa. The added element of the
playful shadow lines of the shade structure
add to the overall ambience of “la dolce far
nietnte” (the sweetness of doing nothing).
