At the <strong>Salone</strong> <strong>del</strong> <strong>Mobile</strong>.Milano, HORM pres<strong>en</strong>ted the Plaza<br />

collection, designed by architect Marco Piva, a metaphorical<br />

journey through the most iconic squares of European capitals,<br />

and the Aira family of lamps, conceived by the creative mind of<br />

Marcantonio.<br />

Innovation and interpretation are the two gui<strong>del</strong>ines of a fluid<br />

design path, which saw Marco Piva and Horm together for the<br />

first time in the design of a collection with an Italian soul and a<br />

cosmopolitan style, transversal to the differ<strong>en</strong>t contexts of living.<br />

The combination of materials of excell<strong>en</strong>t quality combined<br />

with the unmistakable signature of Made in Italy design, has<br />

resulted in harmonious furniture pieces such as tables, chairs,<br />

sideboards, desks and consoles that bl<strong>en</strong>d in with the spaces<br />

of contemporary living, from resid<strong>en</strong>tial to hotellerie. The fine<br />

finishes are expressed in soft, flowing lines that make each room<br />

cosy and pleasant to live in, thanks to a design that combines<br />

aesthetics and comfort.<br />

The desire to create a home that is both functional and exclusive<br />

has led Horm to collaborate with Marcantonio on the Aira<br />

project, a lamp that brings nature into the home, creating a new<br />

image of beauty that can go beyond the classic patterns of luxury.<br />

“In many cultures — says Marcantonio— the branch of a tree<br />

is always loaded with very important symbolic values linked to<br />

Nature and Spirituality. The idea of transforming a branch into<br />

a light source stems from the desire to amplify this positive value<br />

and create a functional object that can at the same time act as a<br />

stimulus for the soul”.<br />

Marco Piva<br />

Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba is a<br />

multi-tal<strong>en</strong>ted artist and designer who<br />

moves easily betwe<strong>en</strong> artistic forms and<br />

functional products. His curriculum<br />

vitae is a testimony to his int<strong>en</strong>se<br />

experim<strong>en</strong>tation, starting with mosaics and<br />

moving on to sculpture, sc<strong>en</strong>ography and<br />

design, which has led him to collaborate<br />

with internationally r<strong>en</strong>owned companies.<br />

In his approach to design, the link<br />

betwe<strong>en</strong> man and nature is at the heart<br />

of his work, which is characterised by a<br />

multidisciplinary and borderless approach,<br />

with a <strong>del</strong>iberately ironic aesthetic. This<br />

semantic inclination inevitably leads his<br />

designs to new frontiers, not only poetic<br />

but also functional.<br />

Exciting, fluid and functional. Marco Piva’s<br />

expressive language is at home in major<br />

urban master plans, in architecture and in<br />

interior and project design. The designer<br />

Marco Piva is first and foremost a traveller,<br />

an innovator focused on the creation of<br />

unique design solutions; a multifaceted<br />

g<strong>en</strong>ius with the typical humanist ability<br />

to move betwe<strong>en</strong> differ<strong>en</strong>t contexts and<br />

disciplines, creating interactions. This<br />

has earned him a number of the world’s<br />

most important honours and awards. His<br />

commitm<strong>en</strong>t to material and technological<br />

research, the value of differ<strong>en</strong>tiation,<br />

fruitful interactions betwe<strong>en</strong> differ<strong>en</strong>t<br />

fields and an innovative approach to design<br />

led him to create the architectural firm<br />
