Facilities Management Skilled Trade Apprenticeship Program (VC‐RMP)<br />

The program aims to advance opportunities by providing professional development and vertical career<br />

path opportunities. Given the demographics of facilities management staff, the majority of the<br />

candidates in the program are African American and Latinx.<br />

Gender Inclusive Recruitment Language (APS)<br />

Job descriptions are reviewed to ensure non‐binary language and to avoid gender specific pronouns.<br />

Inclusive Hiring Pilot (SIO)<br />

The Director of Diversity Initiatives utilizes the data provided by <strong>UC</strong> <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong>’s Equal Opportunity<br />

Office to build strategic outreach plans. The pilot also provides training on implicit bias and best<br />

practices for inclusive resume screening and interviewing.<br />

Outreach Programs for Veterans (Health)<br />

Outreach efforts for veterans including participation in a job fair at the Naval Medical Center <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong><br />

for transitioning service members and veterans.<br />

Partnerships with Local Diversity Nursing Associations (Health)<br />

Partnerships with the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> Black Nurses Association (SDBNA), the Philippine Nurse Association of<br />

<strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> (PNASD), and the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> National Association of Hispanic Nurses (SDNAHN) have led to<br />

new scholarships, increased support, leadership development, belonging, and special events.<br />

(Equity Minded) Assessment Day 2021 (VC‐SA)<br />

A day‐long professional development opportunity hosted by VC‐SA in collaboration with VC <strong>EDI</strong>, the<br />

Colleges, and the Commons focuses on how to approach assessment from an equity‐minded lens.<br />

Centering <strong>EDI</strong> throughout Strategic Planning Process (Lib)<br />

The Library centers <strong>EDI</strong> thought their strategic planning process, employing a campus‐wide<br />

engagement approach.<br />

Climate Related Training and Development (EVC Offices)<br />

The Office of the EVC offers trainings to enhance climate focused on implicit bias (e.g., Implicit Bias<br />

with Life Theater Workshop) and workplace civility.<br />
