SUZANNE BUCHKO (SHE/HER)<br />

Shortly after her youngest daughter joined her family through<br />

adoption, Suzanne Buchko left the practice of law to become a full<br />

time parent. Before that time, Suzanne was an actor, playwright, civil<br />

rights lawyer, Master Gardener and history enthusiast. After meeting<br />

her daughter, she became an advocate for her daughter and other<br />

children, learned to navigate the labyrinth of educational and public<br />

support systems for children and young people <strong>with</strong> disabilities,<br />

facilitated mindfulness and meditation programs for caregivers of<br />

people <strong>with</strong> developmental differences and participated as a LEND<br />

Fellow at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Suzanne is a writer<br />

who regularly blogs at Chasing Joy (https://chasingjoy.net/), and<br />

she loves to sing in her UU society choir. She can be reached at<br />

CARLA CARLISLE (SHE/HER)<br />

Carla is from Charlotte, NC. She is the Executive Director of <strong>The</strong><br />

Compassionate Companion (TM) in which she gives keynotes and<br />

workshops for caregivers using lived experience and supported by<br />

evidence based tools. A proud boy mom, Carla has dedicated her<br />

life to bringing awareness to mental health, suicide prevention, and<br />

how we all need help sometimes. A multi-award winning author, she<br />

did a TEDx talk about becoming trauma informed and jumped at the<br />

opportunity to be a part of <strong>This</strong> <strong>Is</strong> <strong>My</strong> <strong>Brave</strong> to bring awareness to<br />
