COURTNEY JOLY-LOWDERMILK (SHE/HER)
Courtney is from Woonsocket, Rhode Island and now lives with
her family in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. She directs
Strategic Services Initiatives at the Center for Psychiatric
Rehabilitation at Boston University. She joined the Center team in 2014
and directed NITEO and the College Mental Health Education Programs
through 2021 and worked closely with This Is My Brave on their College
Edition program. For the last 17 years, Courtney has taught, developed,
and directed in the fields of special education, disability and access
services, and psychiatric rehabilitation. Most recently she developed
Flourishing Families, promoting positive health and recovery for the
parents, guardians, and caregivers of young adults who live with
mental health and substance use conditions. She attributes all
these successes to the nurturing wisdom and energy of colleagues,
students, and families, especially her family.
GARY HORWITZ (HE/HIM)
Gary Horwitz serves in the Flourishing Families program at the Center
for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University as a co-leader at
training workshops and a coach for participating parents. Gary has
collaborated in the drafting of the training and coaching manuals, and
develops coaching training for Flourishing Families team members. He
has taught a number of classes in the Adult Recovery Program including
Developing an Agile Mindset, Strategic Decision-Making and Conflict
Resolution. Gary is an attorney, founding his own law practice in 1989,
specializing in divorce mediation and high conflict divorce cases.
