research studyProfessor: Dimitrios Frangos2022The research study is focused on theissues, on those actions that arecarried out every day dozens of times, since the beginning of existence, onthose issues that are not self-evidentbut absolutely elementary. In thefollowing chapters, an attempt ismade to highlight the importance ofthe components that make up a meal. However, trying to briefly describe thereasons, questions and pursuits ofthis research, I had to divide thismultifaceted topic into categories: forthis reason, the following sections arearchival notes on the concepts ofmarket, food, place, restaurants, ofthe objects and finally of the culinaryculture. The questions are of social, psychological, political and designnature and try to deconstruct theelements that make up a meal as wellas highlight their valuable qualities.Meals are surrounded by strict, socialrules and rituals, numerous andmulti-level choices made byindividuals, centered around food.Gastronomy, architecture and artsurrounding the concept of food andmeal process prove that the issue is acomplex social phenomenon thatconnects place, history and differentcultural traditions. Human societies, religious traditions, cooking guides, folk novels, sumptuous dinners,cloth-wrapped cakes, stories andmyths that manifest like ghosts of thepast in recipes, appetizers andkitchen secrets, shape the tradition ofthe meal. The meal, served on a table under anarbor in the summer, in a tavern in avillage square but also at therestaurant in the center, bringsmemories of known and unknown life, wanderings and experiments whilethe cooking, which precedes themeal, is the melting pot of traditions.Ultimately this meal is nothing but thestory of a life, which includes us alland concerns us all the time. Thefeeling of a meal, in those meetingsthat are accompanied by wine ortsipouro, but also any other form ofalcohol or a hot beverage is nothingshort of deep pleasure.Culinary knowledge can participate inthe historical and theoreticaldiscussions of architecture and art,and this is the aim of this paper. I seek,in short, to advocate a strongersynergy of disciplines whose productsso happily intertwine in everydaypractice that they create quality, design outcomes. Food, as necessityor pleasure, as survival or ritual, is acomponent of life. Preparing andsharing a meal is that condition thatbrings people together, it is a way ofexpression. The events described aretrivial, of course they do not refer tostructured knowledge. The followingpages are an attempt to gatherscattered thoughts, events, facts ofeveryday life, which are important.
