OperationFor safety, it is recommended to use the wireline and overshot to handle the innertube assembly outside of the drill string. It is not recommended to drop an inner tubeassembly into the drill string. Doing so may damage the head assembly, latches and drillstring threads.LoweringDANGER! DANGER1. Attach the DiscovOreLocking Overshot to theDiscovOre HeadAssembly by inserting theovershot head into the topof the retracting case.2. Once attached, theovershot is locked ontothe back end of the innertube assembly. The innertube assembly can besafely maneuvered abovethe drill string.Personnel should avoid being directly under a hanging innertube assembly.3. Lower the inner tubeassembly into the drill stringuntil the latches are past thethreads.4. Insert the release toolhorizontally, into the openingin the middle of the overshotbody5. Push down on the releasetool to pry open the liftingdogs to disconnect the headassembly from the overshot.CAUTIONThe head will drop into the drill string, keep hands clear toavoid injury.Retrieval1. Insert the overshot into the drill string and lowerit until it hits the back end of the inner tube. Onceconnected, the head and overshot are automaticallylocked together.2. Reverse the wireline and pull the overshot todisengage the latches of the head assembly from thecore barrel.3. At the surface, maneuver the inner tube assemblyinto position6. To release the overshot, insert the overshot intothe retracting case of the head assembly to slightlycompress the lifting dogs. Maintain some slack in thewireline.7. Squeeze the lifting dogs while maintaining theovershot inserted in the retracting case, then pull theovershot out of the retracting case while squeezingthe lifting dogs.CAUTIONThe head will drop if it is not supported.27
