A longtime resident of
Dover just recently hit a
milestone of a birthday.
Chuck Johnson turned ninety
years young on Apr. 26. He
is known throughout the area
as an auctioneer and enjoys
his family, farm, Farmall-H,
Ferguson, fish sandwiches,
and fixing fences. He married
the love of his life, Thelma
Fuchs, on Sept. 20, 1958,
sixty-five years this September.
They have five sons
- Roy, Ralph, Roger, Rick,
and Ray Johnson. Three
daughters-in-law- Susan,
Roger’s wife; Connie, Rick’s
wife; and Lisa, Roy’s wife.
Topping it off are six grandchildren.
Roger and Susan
now run the family auctioneer
business even though Chuck
can still hold a chant. I have
known Chuck all of my life
and consider him to be one of
the friendliest guys I know.
He is very fortunate to be able
to continue his farming tasks
and drive his tractors. Don’t
know too many guys who can

still do that at this age. Just
keep on doing what you are
doing, Chuck. You must be
doing something right. Best

The annual North Dearborn
High School Reunion was
recently held. Approximately
three hundred alumni and
guests attended. The proceeds
from the reunion are used for
scholarships given to seniors
each year at East Central High
School. This year donations
were also accepted for a
monument to be placed on the
property where the school was
located on North Dearborn
Road. More details on this
project will become available
in the coming months. Fran

Johnson came all the way
from Australia to be at this
reunion. It was a pleasure to
get to see her and meet her
husband after all these years.
Congratulations to Evan
Kuhn on receiving the Carolyn
Hegel Memorial Scholarship
named after the longtime
Indiana Farm Bureau
second vice-president who
served the organization for
twenty-six years. Evan will attend
the University of Northwestern
Ohio. Recipients
of this scholarship must be
incoming or current college
students pursuing a degree
in agriculture and members
of the Indiana Farm Bureau.
Evan graduated from East
Central in the Class of 2023.
He is the son of Mike and
Kathy Kuhn of Dover. Best

of luck to Evan in college and
all of his future endeavors!

summer months I hope everyone
enjoys this time whether
it be at home or on a vacation.
