Outlook Looks Celebrating freedom during Refugee Week This year, Refugee Week is celebrated from 18 to 24 June. This year’s theme, “Finding Freedom” explores what it means to be free. Find out more at refugeeweek.org.au Sharing food with those who are struggling In Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, families who have fled their homes and are now seeking safety need our support. In many cases they struggle to put food on the table. The Diocese of Parramatta, with Jesuit Refugee Services and the House of Welcome, have created a video on how you can be involved in a ‘Foodbank’ and donate essential food items. This year, in light of the upcoming National Referendum on an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice, NAIDOC Week recognises our Elders, whose strength, knowledge and guidance inspire us to work together towards a better future for our Indigenous brothers and sisters. Learn more about how you can celebrate our Indigenous Elders by visiting naidoc.org.au World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly For the upcoming Third World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly on 23 July, Pope Francis has chosen the theme “His mercy is from age to age” (Lk 1:50), which connects to the celebration of World Youth Day in August.
