Something for everyone at blockbuster International Jewellery Fair
The International Jewellery Fair is approaching
and organisers Expertise Events have confirmed a
schedule of special events and presentations.
The major focus for this year’s industry gathering
(19-21 August) will be innovation, headlined by the
introduction of a new speciality education hub.
With the introduction of this speciality hub, Expertise
Events general manager Zac Fitz-Roy told Jeweller
the Sydney Fair was an opportunity not to be missed.
"We are incredibly excited about the #MORE-Ideas,
Inspiration, Information theme for this year's
International Jewellery Fair," he said.
“We have curated an exceptional line-up of exhibitors
one of our biggest lists in a decade. The activities will
ensure that attendees have access to unparalleled
opportunities for improving their businesses, along
with networking and knowledge-sharing.”
Moreover, this year's fair will debut a new premier
lounge, providing a luxurious retreat for VIP guests
and industry leaders.
The premier lounge is designed to serve as a haven
for networking, fostering new connections and
collaborating among industry professionals.
One of the Australian jewellery industry’s most
high-profile and influential figures, Karin Adcock,
will make a surprise return to the Sydney Fair. Today,
Adcock has traded one luxury for another - moving
from jewellery to wine as the owner of Winmark
Wines in the Hunter Valley.
The Sydney Fair has three major sponsors this year.
Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK), a leading
supplier of natural diamonds is a ‘diamond’ level
sponsor while diamond jewellery manufacturer AV
Diamonds will support the IJF as a ‘platinum’ level
sponsor. US-based lab-created diamond company
Classic Grown Diamonds is a gold level sponsor.
Expertise Events managing director Gary Fitz-Roy
said he admired the respective commitment of SRK,
AV Diamonds, and Classic Grown Diamonds
in supporting and elevating the jewellery trade.

"We have already had to expand the floor area to
accommodate increased demand, and the 2023 IJF
will have the biggest number of exhibitors in the

The IJF will be hosted at the International
Convention and Exhibition Centre in Darling
Harbour over three days.

The special Winmark winetasting
session is also sure to be popular, led by
former Pandora Australia CEO Karin Adcock.
On the second day of the Sydney Fair (20 August)
Adcock will host a four-hour wine-tasting session.
“I still have a lot of love for the jewellery industry
and have so many good friends not only among the
retailers, but also with the wholesalers, and so to
be able to come back and see everyone and share a
glass will be quite special,” Adcock told Jeweller.

Really Worth’ session, detailing the importance
of understanding the value of your business.
In an era where retailers must adapt to rapidly
changing market dynamics, understanding the
true worth of your business is not a luxury; it
is a necessity.

Understanding industry laws and regulations
is vital, and Alex Engel –
assistant secretary
of the transnational crime
branch of the Attorney
General’s Department – will
host a session on proposed
reforms to Australia’s antimoney
laundering and counter-terrorism
financing regime.
The presentation will cover the purpose of the
reforms, the consultation process and timing, how
the proposed regulation may impact jewellery
retailers and suppliers, and what it would look like
to be regulated under the AML/CTF regime.
“These reforms would extend the existing AML/
CTF regime to help industry, including dealers in
precious stones and metals, protect themselves
from exploitation from money launderers and
other criminal actors,” said spokesperson for the
Attorney-General’s Department told Jeweller.

spotlight at the Sydney Fair, with Arya Opal Cutters
hosting a live opal cutting demonstration while
SABA Co will showcase live jewellery making.

As is always the case, special prizes will be
up for grabs – with Salt and Pepper Diamonds
hosting a contest to win a one-carat diamond.

On the lighter side of things,
free caricature drawings for
visitors will be created by Sydney
cartoonist Brett Bower.

This year's fair will debut a new premier lounge,
providing a luxurious meeting place for
VIP guests and industry leaders.
The premier lounge will encourage networking,
discovering rewarding connections, and fostering
comunication between industry professionals.
