Located at the very northern end of the Sunshine Coast, LAUGHING
1 OYSTER RESTAURANT is perched with a lookout above Okeover
Inlet. Executive Chef David Bowes has designed a delicious menu,
with choices for all to enjoy. He serves up soups, appetizers, salads, bistro meals,
entrees, and delectable desserts. The Roast Garlic and Wild Mushroom soup
contains seven kinds of mushrooms from local forests. His Cajun Bouillabaisse is
filled with seafood in a spicy prawn and beer broth, served on rice. Save room for
the Lemon Semifredo to savour while you watch the evening light change. Laughing
Oyster also provides catering along the northern section of the Sunshine Coast.

COASTAL COOKERY in Powell River overlooks the Strait of
2 Malaspina. It’s open from 11:30am until late, every day. The menu is a mix
of traditional and modern twists. Favourites are the Confit Duck Wings,
thomey Backyard Beer Can Chicken, and flavourful Rendang Beef Ribs. The Cookery
Smash Burger is another, filled with two 2.5 oz patties, cheese, smoked bacon,
grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and sauce, all spilling out of a fresh potato bun
with fries. Now you’re full! Casual fare, starters, sharing plates, plenty of options for
gluten-free and vegan meals, and substitutions are all available. There is also a wide
selection of cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beers to sip while you enjoy the view.

JOE’S ON THE BEACH boasts breathtaking views from virtually
3 every seat in the house. It’s open from breakfast through dinner, Monday
through Sunday, so you can catch something delicious any time of day,
any day of the week. Breakfast sandwiches, bowls, bennies, and plates will fill empty
stomachs for a day of exploring the Coast. Stop in after your morning paddle at Davis
Bay to refuel with lunch. Happy Hour runs from 3-5pm and after 8pm for snacks and
drinks shared with friends. Dinner service offers an array of seafood, burgers, steak,
salads, and bowls. Joe’s caters to carnivores, vegans, and gluten-freers with their
menu selections, and accommodates other preferences as they can. The bright and
airy restaurant and good food make it a pleasant addition to Sunshine Coast eateries.

At the opposite end of the Coast we have THE PINK HOUSE BISTRO,
4 located in Lower Gibsons. This intimate bistro, decorated in beautiful
jewel tones, opens Wednesday through Saturday evenings for dinner
only. After being seated, you will want to pick from a list of hand-crafted cocktails and
fauxtails as you wait for your first dish to arrive. Plates are centred around sharing,
and there are gluten-free, nut-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. While a small
menu, the dishes are expertly crafted and full of complex flavours. Their hummus is
creamy with flecks of fresh herbs and pickled chickpeas. The Crispy Za’tar Chicken
is moist and subtly sweet from fermented garlic honey. Round out the evening
with something from the dessert menu, an espresso, and a great conversation.
