The popular Great OxfordGarageSale Trail is being held on Sunday, August 6, at<br />
9am to 2pm. There will be 40 sites in and around Oxford township. Venue maps are<br />
available at Pearson Park Oval from 9am to 11am. After 11am they will be at the<br />

Menz Shed would be appreciated. Members will be on duty at entry to accept your<br />

We arelooking for female volunteersaged 60 to 80 years to participate<br />
in theYUMMI study, a12-week research studyinvestigating thehealth<br />
effectsofconsuming differenttypes milk–cow, goat,orsheep.<br />
We will provideyou with cow,goat or sheepmilk powder to drink<br />
twiceaday for 12-weeks,oryou will be askedtoeat your normaldiet<br />
(controlgroup). Thetime commitment for thestudy will be about 11<br />
hours andyou will attend fiveclinic visits.You will receiveupto$220 in<br />
supermarket vouchers in recognition of theactualorreasonable costs<br />
involvedwith participating in this study(e.g. parkingand/ortravel costs).<br />
If youare awoman aged 60 to 80 yearsand candrink milk,wewould<br />

Welcoming and smart<br />
The Cheviot Area School office is sporting<br />
anew mural, and aplaygroundupgrade is<br />
well underway.<br />
The projects, which have seen mums,<br />
dads and pupils pitch in over the school<br />
holidays, are all part of apush to brighten<br />
up the school, make it welcoming and<br />
smart.<br />
Mel van Reenen saysshe initiated the<br />
mural.<br />
It is based on designs and ideasfrom<br />
students,under the guidanceofartist,<br />
Mark Larsen from Larsen Signs Kaiapoi.<br />
Supported by funding from Creative<br />
Communities Scheme, Mel says she and<br />
students met at Mark’s studioinKaiapoi,<br />
whereheasked what Cheviotand the<br />
school meant to them.<br />
Whilethe project had been delayed<br />
because of Covid, Mel says the end result is<br />
an inclusivedesignofactivities, sport,<br />
recreation, and placesspecial to the<br />
district.<br />
They are embraced with the names of<br />
the villages and districts in the Cheviot<br />
district,forming the outercircle of the<br />
mural.<br />
Meanwhile,the playground is in the<br />
midstofanupgradethanks to mums, dads,<br />
kids and caregivers turning out in huge<br />
numbers to working bees prior to school<br />
resuming after the holidays.<br />

making the playground safe, vibrant, and<br />
inclusive.<br />

placeinthe school, and there are no<br />

Joanne says many of its featuresdated<br />
back many years,and wererundown. GH<br />
BuildingLtd had done atremendous job in<br />
making the fort safe and, after two days of<br />
toil duringthe holidays, withthe huge<br />
number of people involved, alot had been<br />
achieved in making the playground user<br />
friendly for all uses.<br />
The projectwas given ahuge boost<br />
thanks to funding from the Rata<br />
Foundationand the Cheviot Area School’s<br />
Home and School group.<br />
