TML’S VISION FOR SUSTAINABLE
TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS
Tailormade Logistics wants to set the standard for sustainable transport and
logistics. Our vision goes beyond the mere reduction of CO 2
emissions per
kilometer driven. It is a holistic vision that encompasses all aspects of our
operations. By creating an international network of hubs, focusing on the shift
towards multimodal transportation, generating our own green energy, using
alternative fuels and drivetrains, relying on automation and reducing waste
streams while maximizing recycling and re-use, we aim to transform the entire
logistics chain.
An intermodal-connected network of hubs
We build a network of hubs, close to our customers and close to intermodal
connections. This reduces the number of first-mile kilometers needed to bring
the goods from the customer to us. From there, the goods enter our network
and can be transferred via intermodal to a TML hub near the destination.
Moving goods via barge or rail reduces CO 2
emissions by 90%. This makes
intermodal a very powerful tool in the sustainability toolbox.
Managing energy production and consumption
A logistic site requires a lot of energy to operate: heating/cooling, forklifts….
A logistic building also has a large footprint, literally. It takes up many square
meters. By installing solar panels on the roofs of our warehouses, we can
produce green energy and put this green energy to use. First of all, to operate
the site but the surplus energy can be used to charge electric vehicles.
Producing our own green electricity reduces our reliance on ‘brown energy’
and makes it possible to better manage and optimize our energy consumption.
Circular and Sustainable Supply Chain
We recognize the importance of efficient and sustainable supply chains.
We commit to reducing and reusing waste and promoting circularity by
implementing innovative solutions for responsible resource management.
Through collaboration with our customers and their suppliers across the
supply chain, we implement sustainable practices and contribute to a circular
economy.
Digitalization and automation
Few people associate the logistics sector with cutting edge IT developments.
Managing the complexities of an international logistics operation does require
robust, state-of-the-art IT systems. Warehouse Management, Transport
Management, Business Intelligence, Fleet Management, monitoring and
tracking, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Radio-frequency identification
(RFID) and semi-automated planning are all part of the IT landscape.
