Growth In Siouxland Future Foundation – Siouxland GO By Sydney McManamy Siouxland Growth Organization’s summer has been jam packed with exciting opportunities for our members and the community! Our members have been giving back to the local community through involvement with Saturday in the Park, Downtown LIVE, RAGBRAI, and the Summer In Siouxland Internship Program. SGO members have also been out and about at local colleges speaking on panels to assist the next generation of young professionals on their transition to the working world and have religiously been attending community events to support community development. We have also fostered camaraderie in the community through monthly socials, general meetings, committee meetings, and more. We had the pleasure of hosting our 14th annual Innovation Market this May, which strives to grow our community through innovative ideas and supporting local businesses by helping to bridge the gap between the inception of an entrepreneurial idea and making it a reality. At the end of several inspiring presentations at our Pitch Event finals in June, Melting Cow BBQ received first place ($5,000 provided by Sterling Computers) to assist with their startup costs. Second place ($2,500 provided by the City of Sioux City, the Siouxland Initiative, and Vitus) was awarded to GuitarX Upcycled Instruments and third place ($1,000 provided by Iowa’s West Coast Initiative) was awarded to Siouxland Floral Collective to help make their entrepreneurial dreams a reality. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our event sponsors who helped us create a space locally where progress can take root. People gather to read Innovation Market ideas. This winter, we are thrilled to announce that you have the opportunity to celebrate the end of 2023 in style. You can “Fall in Love With Siouxland” at our Wedding-Themed Murder Mystery Reception on Friday, December 29. Join us for a night of drama, great food, conversation, and dancing. Make sure to follow us on Facebook so you can be the first to know when ticket sales open. If you are someone who wants to get involved in the community but you’re not sure where to begin, feel free to stop by any of our general meetings. We will be holding our September general meeting on Wednesday, September 13, at 5:30 p.m., at the South Sioux City College Center.
