Expose the anterior of the C4 vertebra and bluntly dissect
under the prevertebral fascia to the inferior border
of the C2 (Figs. 1.45 and 1.46).
Palpate the bulge at the inferior border of the
anterior axis. The C2 level is determined by lateral
fluoroscopy.
