A MESSAGE FROM ADAM
What we can't do alone, we can do together. This is not merely a maxim but a
resounding testament to the driving principles at the core of Odyssey House.
Our purpose is clear: to empower people to heal and build better lives. However,
we recognize that we can't do it alone. It's our united recovery community that
breathes life into our mission. We firmly believe in the strength of collective efforts
for healing and growth.
Within our programs, individuals discover spaces of belonging, support, and the
resilience needed to conquer adversity. Your unwavering support stands as the
bedrock of our success. Whether you're a donor, volunteer, partner, or a passionate
advocate for our cause, you're an indispensable part of our community.
As we look ahead, let's continue to live by these principles. Together, we'll
remain steadfast in our mission to empower people to heal and build better lives.
Warmest regards,
MISSION
To empower people to heal and build better lives
Since our beginning in 1971 as a single residential facility, we've grown to
become the largest addiction treatment program in Utah, serving as a pillar
of support to our local and broader national recovery community.
Our commitment extends across every facet of our operations,
encompassing our business practices, treatment programs, and the growth
and well-being of our dedicated staff.
We take immense pride in offering free or low-cost programs for children,
adolescents, adults, and parents with children, ensuring accessible support
for Utah residents facing addiction challenges. It's a privilege to serve our clients,
and we remain steadfast in our vision to harness our expertise and resources
for the betterment of our community.
“I've been able to obtain life skills that I never thought possible. Such as
emotional regulation, healthy communication, advocating for myself
and setting boundaries. Plus it has been so freeing working through my
trauma, and I knew if I didn't work through it that I would relapse. I chose
to take my time and I've enjoyed every moment at Odyssey!”
“Odyssey has taught me so much and shown me so much! I learned
what happiness looks like and the joys of sobriety. I appreciate Odyssey
so much for everything the program and the family has given me! I will
take the tools I learned with me forever.”
PARENTS WITH CHILDREN
The Parents with Children program provides parents and pregnant people the
opportunity to receive treatment while keeping their families together. Our
Children’s Services Center provides therapeutic services to the children in our
program to ensure their well-being. One of the few treatment options available
for this chronically underserved population, this is an incredibly vital program in
our community.
CLIENT SPOTLIGHT
My name is Jeremy Allen. I grew up in
West Kerns, And I was put in my first boy's
home when I was five years old. I was put
on Ritalin. I started smoking pot when I
was six. By the time I was 17, I had been
in and out of seven treatment centers.
I’ve been in and out of treatment
centers—most of my life, from the age of
five until now.
I have a very dear friend who works with
Odyssey House. She told me that
Odyssey was a really good center and
that they were a caring facility that could
help me, and that’s what I needed.
I had experienced a lot of loss in my life,
and drugs were a way for me to cope
with it. I needed help, and when I got
into Odyssey House, they talked about
focusing on the long-term treatment of
care, and that's what I needed. This
program wasn’t just going to be two or
three months. It was going to take some
time.
going to take three months to fix that
trauma. I needed something that was
going to take time. I didn’t just need
shelter or food and water. I needed to
feel good about myself. I needed to be
around people who cared about me; I
needed some kind of connection
because that’s the opposite of
addiction.
That’s why places like Odyssey House
work, and that’s why places like AA work.
It’s because of the connections you
make. The only times I’ve ever been
clean is when I’ve been connected.
I feel absolutely blessed for where I stand
today. I have opportunities and chances
in my life. It’s a new beginning for me. I
thank God for places like this and those
who have been there for me when I
needed it most because I don’t know if I
would be alive without it. I really
appreciate that. Thank you very much.
I was on the streets for a long time,
causing wreckage on my body, mental
health, and family connections. It wasn’t
