Music makes things better…always
Meet Eliot Kennedy – The Maestro Behind the Music
Songwriter, Producer and Recording Artist
“Music is the backstage pass to our souls”
We are extremely honoured and privileged to introduce
’s exclusive Head Producer,
Eliot Kennedy, a world-renowned songwriter and
record producer.
Eliot says “I have had the opportunity as a music creator to benefit
from the power of music, so my career has also always been a cathartic
experience, as the actual music I am creating has its own effect on me. This
has served me as a mental health tonic. Music has saved my life more than
once. Literally.
Throughout the most difficult times of my life, and in particular when my
mother was sectioned in Rotherham General Hospital’s psychiatric ward
when I was 12 years old, music saved me. Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love was
the soundtrack to that painful time. It gave me meaning and strength to
admit that I was human, but also gave me inspiration and hope.
It is a lesson I have never forgotten. I also know how my music had a huge
part of bringing my mum back from the brink. After suicide attempts, my
music gave my mum hope.”
“The power of
music is simply
magical.”
Eliot’s first global songwriting success, the Spice Girls’ smash hit single “Say You’ll
Be There”, was followed by a string of major hits written and produced for Celine
Dion, Bryan Adams, Boyzone, Blue, S Club 7, Five, Billie Piper and Atomic
Kitten. In 1997, Eliot won an Ivor Novello for Boyzone’s “Picture Of You”, and in
2006 his song “Never Gonna Break My Faith” which he wrote for Aretha Franklin,
was awarded a Grammy Award.
Eliot’s vision
Eliot’s vision for ’s is to help prepare users for self-exploration therapy.
Eliot’s vision for ’s is to help prepare users for self-exploration for therapy, music a user can play whilst
getting themselves in the right place to receive help. It helps with meditation, relaxation techniques, etc.
A therapist will help a client to relax before starting any kind of treatment therapy. In
this instance we are providing a resource that allows our users to “get in the zone” by
listening to music that we have curated and created specifically to their particular
mental health condition.
Music assists the body in generating dopamine and natural endorphins, and helping keep
cortisol levels in check. High cortisol levels are a prime factor in anxiety and stress.
Alongside our mental health categories with curated compositions for anxiety, stress,
depression, OCD and PTSD, we also recognize that our mental health requires
help in many other areas too, including motivational tool, or a mechanism to assist
concentration, and of course, the big one, SLEEP!
Here’s a bit more about some of our
categories:
Stress Designed to help the listener unload the thoughts of the day, this relaxing
collection contains suites that are all around 10 minutes long, which is the amount of time it
takes us to get ourselves into a relaxing frame of mind and let go of all stressful thoughts.
Anxiety Anxiety can take over a person’s thoughts and intentions, so we have designed
these suites of music to help the listener find a peaceful place to be ready to receive
therapy, whether that be in the form of our Lived Experience material or to simply assist in
relaxation or meditation.
Depression A much-misunderstood condition and one that can overrun our intentions
and positivity, these collections of music are designed to be uplifting and positive, whilst
maintaining the relaxing and meditative themes of
. Music releases
dopamine (the feel-good stuff) and controls cortisol (the anxiety-inducing stuff).
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Anyone who has experienced this
condition knows how powerful it can be. We have designed this collection to take the listener
on a journey that will take them out of their thoughts and occupy them, while at the same
time helping to bring down their heart rate and relax the mind. This suite creates the
perfect soundtrack to
’s lived experience content.
PTSD The music in this category will be relaxing and meditative whilst maintaining the soft,
often classical musical approach. Each suite will encompass scientifically proven techniques to
help the listener find peace.
It’s like creating a soundtrack to therapy
Focus will be
with a groove: lo-fi, chillout music to help you focus on
the job at hand, whether that’s homework, a dissertation or any other task that requires
concentration. Consider this a soundtrack to your study.
Energy will be
with tempo: that you can use for waking up or exercising;
it’s also perfect for when you want more upbeat mind music. Dance grooves and uplifting
melodies can assist in you physical wellbeing as well as your mental health. A soundtrack
to your wake up and go!
Sleep Using environmental sounds (ocean waves, rainfall, forest sounds) to create
continuous background noise along with hypnotic sounds that assist in bringing the mind
to peace and enabling the fall into the sleep that we all need. This one is the soundtrack to
your sleep.
As noted above,
music has a
profound impact on
our minds and bodies,
and it can be a powerful tool for
relaxation, immersion,
self-exploration
and eventually HOPE.
• Eliciting emotional responses
• Providing a distraction that encourages focus
• Stimulating the relaxation response
